THE SOUND OF A LIVING FARM: T’BAS BIRD NESTING

Today, we witnessed another quiet miracle at Oikos Orchard and Farm. Hidden among the thick, healthy leaves of our young Bani trees, just beside the Bahay Kubo, the 🐦‍🔥T’BAS bird has nested again raising its young safely in the branches of trees we planted only around two (2) years ago as windbreaks.

The 🐦‍🔥T’BAS is one of nature’s small but powerful hunters. It helps control insects and small pests, making it an important ally in a regenerative farm. Its presence tells us that Oikos Orchard and Farm is not only growing fruits, herbs, spices, native trees, and vegetables. It is also growing life.

This is not just a BIRD STORY. This is a powerful sign that the land is HEALING.

From the critically endangered Siloy or Black Shama, a rare Cebu endemic bird that has nested in OikosOF, to Banog, Antolihao, Galansiyang, Gitgit, Punay, Sayaw, Tikling, Tukmo, Tuktor, and now the nesting 🐦‍🔥T’BAS. We have already recorded around eighteen (18) bird species sighted, flying freely, feeding, sheltering, or nesting within the Farm.

This means something very important: the Farm is becoming a living bird sanctuary. A future birdwatching haven.
