After eight years as an overseas Filipino worker in Dubai, Jensen Otto is now a software engineer who also manages Itlogan ni Otto, his poultry farm and business in Santa Barbara, Pangasinan. Through continuous learning and proper management, he has grown his flock to 342 Lohmann chickens since starting in December 2024.

As the flock grows, managing heat becomes crucial, as high temperatures can affect chickens’ water intake, feed consumption, and egg production.

By night, Jensen Otto, 41, works as a software engineer. By day, he turns his attention to another kind of system—managing a growing flock of ready-to-lay chickens, tracking egg production, monitoring sales, and keeping his poultry business running.

Working the night shift has not kept Otto from pursuing agriculture. Instead, he has built his backyard poultry farm around his work schedule while using his technology skills to make farm management more systematic.
