Given the current administration, Facebook has become my platform to voice my deep and uncompromising dissatisfaction with Philippine politics. The same is true for those individuals who have established platforms to expose influential, powerful, and corrupt public servants who continuously tarnish our nation and prioritize their own interests over the people.
Ano pa ang gagawin natin? Even the former president has been exiled instead na litisin sa sariling bansa. The people involved in flood control scandal na may mga posisyon sa gobyerno walang nanagot. Ung mga patuloy na lumalaban at humihingi ng hustisya sa kaban ng bayan na patuloy na ibinubulsa? Sabihin niyo? Saan pa ba ako maglalabas ng sama ng loob? Eh lahat na lang pinapatahimik db?
CJ HIRRO’S DOUBLE STANDARD COMPLEX: SCRUTINY FOR YOU, EXCUSES FOR ME
CJ Hirro’s statement is furious, theatrical, and absolute:
“F**k you, Martin Romualdez.
I never extorted you. I never reached out to you or anyone in your circle. You know that. The very idea that I would even establish a line with you-with you-is an insult to everything I stand for.
You are the most corrupt, most evil politician this country has ever been cursed with. You believe everything and everyone has a price. Babuy, my parents raised me better than that.
They raised me to recognize your kind of evil-and to stay as far away from it as possible. Again, f**k you.”

What it is not is a proper answer to a serious allegation.
This is not merely a bruising exchange between two political camps. The investigation concerns an alleged ₱300-million robbery-extortion attempt - an accusation serious enough to demand sworn explanations, documentary evidence, and careful examination by authorities.
Yet when the NBI subpoenaed Hirro, she did not personally appear. Her lawyers went in her place while she was reportedly out of town.
That absence does not prove guilt. It should not be twisted into a conviction. But neither should it be brushed aside as though answering investigators were an inconvenience reserved for ordinary people.
NBI Director Atty. Melvin Matibag appears to have done what the law and basic fairness require. He did not pronounce her guilty through a press conference. The bureau received a complaint, examined available material, conducted an investigation, and issued a subpoena so Hirro could submit evidence and give her side under oath.
That is scrutiny done through procedure, not through a Facebook mob.
In fact, the subpoena gave Hirro something she routinely demands for the people she attacks - a formal forum where accusations may be tested rather than merely repeated.
Why, then, choose social media over the NBI?
Online, she controls the camera, the vocabulary, and the final word. There are no investigators asking why her image allegedly appeared in the material under examination. There are no follow-up questions, no sworn narration, and no immediate testing of her denial.
She can accuse Martin Romualdez of being the country’s most corrupt and evil politician, punctuate it with profanity, and leave before anyone asks her to prove the sweeping claim.
That is precisely why the public is entitled to question her motive.
Is this the work of a journalist determined to establish facts wherever they lead? Or has the target already been selected, the verdict already written, and every controversy merely arranged to fit a demolition campaign?
The Philippines has never lacked corrupt officials. Corruption has crossed parties, administrations, regions, and political families. To force nearly every grievance into the name of Martin Romualdez no longer automatically looks like fearless truth-telling. At some point, repetition begins to resemble fixation, and fixation can easily disguise a personal vendetta as public service.
Hirro expects government officials to respect institutions, obey lawful processes, and submit themselves to relentless scrutiny. But when scrutiny reached her, she was among the first to avoid personally facing it.
Rules for thee, but none for me.
She treats allegations against Romualdez as moral certainties. Allegations involving her, however, are dismissed as insults unworthy of serious engagement. Accountability becomes sacred when aimed at an enemy and negotiable when it arrives at her own door.
She also says her parents raised her better.
Perhaps they did. But upbringing is not established by invoking one’s parents in the middle of a profanity-filled attack. It is revealed by restraint, fairness, and the courage to follow the same standards one loudly imposes on everyone else.
Hirro deserves the presumption of innocence. She deserves due process. She deserves the chance to answer every allegation fully.
But due process is not a private shelter. It is a public discipline.
It protects her from premature judgment, but it also asks her to appear, speak under oath, and confront the questions she would never hesitate to demand of others.
The public was told to question Martin Romualdez.
At this point, the public should also begin questioning CJ Hirro’s motive.
