Surah Al-Fatiha, the "Opener" of the Quran, summarizes its core themes: praising Allah as the sole Lord, Sustainer, and Master; acknowledging His infinite mercy and ownership of the Day of Judgment; dedicating worship and seeking help solely from Him; and praying for guidance to the "straight path" (Islam) of the righteous, avoiding the paths of those who earn Allah's anger or go astray. It serves as the foundational prayer, essential in every unit (rakat) of prayer, encompassing the essence of the entire Quran, highlighting monotheism, the Hereafter, and the need for divine guidance for salvation.

Five Pillars of ISLAM

The Five Pillars of Islam are the foundational duties that all Muslims are obligated to perform.

These pillars are:
1. Shahadah
(declaration of faith),

2. Salah (prayer),

3. Zakat (alms-giving),

4. Sawm (fasting),

5. Hajj (pilgrimage).

Here's a more detailed look at each pillar:

Shahada
(Declaration of Faith):
This is the core belief that "There is no god but God, and Muhammad is the messenger of God". It's the foundation upon which all other pillars are built.

Salah (Prayer):
Muslims are required to pray five times a day, facing the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca.

Zakat (Alms-Giving):
This involves giving a portion of one's wealth to the poor and needy, considered a form of purification and a way to help those in need.

Sawm (Fasting):
Muslims abstain from food and drink from dawn until sunset during the month of Ramadan.

Hajj (Pilgrimage):
If physically and financially able, Muslims are expected to make a pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in their lifetime.
