Let your voice be heard!
Be the explosion of rights!
We are fortunate to live in a country where we have the right to vote and, by voting, have a say in how our government is run. Take advantage of your power to create change in the way your patients, clients, and students are treated and how we conduct our practice.
Here's how to vote wisely!
Register to Vote:
It's important you are registered to vote.
Research Candidates:
Find out who’s running. Decide what you are looking for in a candidate and who can represent your personal and professional interests. You can do this by visiting their profile and gathering information about them. Evaluate where the candidate stands on issues that impact you.
Decide who to vote for:
Once you’ve completed your research, prepare a checklist or ‘report card’ listing your priority issues, where each candidate stands on those issues, and if you believe their leadership qualities will make a difference.
Vote:
Step 1: Find precinct number
Go at your polling place, find your precinct number and sequence number on the posted voters list. Approach the Electoral Board (EB) and state your name precinct and sequence number.
Step 2: Get your ballot
Get your ballot from the EB. Make sure that you have the right ballot:
* for voters aged 15-17 years old: 1 SK ballot
* for voters aged 18-30 years old: 1 SK ballot and 1 Barangay ballot
* for voters aged 31 years old and above: Barangay ballot.
Step 3: Sign the Election Day Computerized Voters List (EDCVL).
Step 4: Fill up the ballot
Fill up the ballot by writing in the corresponding spaces the names of individual candidates you’ve chosen. Use the ballot secrecy folder to prevent other people from seeing your ballot.
Step 5: Return ballot
After filling up the ballot, fold it in the same manner as it was received and return it to the EB. DO NOT remove the detachable coupon.
Step 6: Place a thumbmark
Place a thumbmark on the corresponding space at the ballot coupon.
Step 7: Ink it
Have your right forefinger nail stained with indelible ink.
Step 8: Observe EB
Observe as the EB removes the ballot coupon. The EB will deposit the ballot and the detached coupon in the corresponding compartments of the ballot box.
After the completion of the voting process, the collected ballots will be safely secured by the EB and counted at the end of the polling hours.
The voting process is a significant aspect of democracy, which allows citizens to elect the leaders that they have deemed fit to lead their Barangay and SK communities.
It is, therefore, crucial for voters to follow the guidelines of the Comelec to ensure a smooth and successful voting experience.
