Operatives of the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group arrested four Korean nationals in a condo operation in Cebu City for alleged involvement in an illegal online gambling network.

ACG chief Wilson Asueta said the group had been running the platform for nearly five years, targeting local and international bettors through a website promoted on social media. See full story link in the comments.

BREAKING NEWS: The Office of the Ombudsman suspends Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama. The suspension was based on the complaint of four employees in city hall after they were reassigned to other posts.

Aside from Rama, seven other city hall officials were also included in the suspension.

In a resolution issued by Ombudsman Samuel Martires, he said that they had seen sufficient grounds to preventively suspend Rama for the complaint of grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a public officer, and conduct prejudicial to the best interest among others. | Futch Anthony Inso

LOOK: The Metro Cebu Water District (MCWD) board led by Chairman Joey Daluz III and General Manager Edgar Donoso filed administrative complaints against Mayor Michael Rama before the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-7 and was addressed to the Office of the President.

The administrative complaints filed were Grave Misconduct, Grave Abuse of Authority and Oppression, Conduct Prejudicial to the Best Interest of the Service, and Conduct Unbecoming of a Public Official and Violation of RA 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees against Rama, whom Daluz pointed to have “released the order to takeover MCWD.”
