CMZ Farm and Store is honored to attend the Farmers’ Day celebration during the Magdiwata Festival in San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, a meaningful tribute to our unsung heroes—our hardworking farmers.

One of the highlights of the event was learning about the Rice Farming Accounting System (RFAS), an innovative application developed by Agusan del Sur State University to support and improve rice farming accounting /management system

This initiative is a promising step toward advancing digital agriculture in our province, demonstrating how technology and innovation can empower farmers, improve productivity, and strengthen food security.

As an advocate for agricultural innovation, I am happy to see that the Province of Agusan del Sur is embracing digital solutions that can help transform the future of farming.

This is a significant milestone toward building smarter, more resilient, and more empowered farming communities.

Together, we move closer to a future where no farmer is left behind.

🌾📚 PANAWAGAN PARA SA DONASYON | BALIK ESKWELA 2026

Sa likod ng bawat butil ng bigas na ating kinakain ay ang pawis, pagod, at sakripisyo ng ating mga magsasaka.

Ngunit sa kabila ng kanilang pagsusumikap, marami pa ring anak ng mga magsasaka ang nahihirapang makapaghanda para sa pagbubukas ng klase ngayong taon.

Sa pamamagitan ng CMZ Farm and Store , nais nating magbigay ng pag-asa sa mga batang ito sa pamamagitan ng school supplies, bags, notebooks, at iba pang pangunahing pangangailangan sa pag-aaral.

💚 Inaanyayahan namin ang mga farmer advocates, organizations, foundations, government agencies, private companies, at mga indibidwal na may pusong tumulong na makiisa sa misyong ito.

Hindi man natin mababago ang buong mundo sa isang araw, ngunit maaari nating mabago ang kinabukasan ng isang bata sa pamamagitan ng simpleng pagtulong.

"Researchers from the University of the Philippines Mindanao investigated whether commonly discarded parts of two local fruits, Breadfruit (rimas or kulo) and Marang, could provide health promoting benefits. Using extracts obtained from peels, seeds, and fruit cores, the team evaluated antioxidant activity and the ability of the extracts to inhibit the growth of lung cancer cells in laboratory tests. Their findings showed that the fruit peels consistently exhibited the strongest antioxidant properties among all plant parts examined. The marang peel demonstrated particularly high antioxidant capacity, while breadfruit peel showed moderate antiproliferative activity against lung cancer cells.

In Food Science and Cancer Biology, antioxidants are compounds that help neutralize unstable molecules known as free radicals, which can contribute to cellular damage. Researchers emphasize that these laboratory findings do not mean the fruit peels cure or prevent cancer in humans. Instead, they indicate the presence of bioactive compounds worthy of further investigation. The study highlights how agricultural by products that are normally discarded may become valuable sources of functional food ingredients while helping reduce waste and add value to local fruit production.

The research was conducted by Pete Maverick Nicole Estudillo and Joel Hassan G. Tolentino from the Department of Food Science and Chemistry of UP Mindanao. Scientists note that additional studies, including animal and human trials, are needed to confirm potential health benefits and determine safe and effective applications of these compounds."-Science Department
