🚛 Learning Beyond the Store 🚛

This week, members of our team had the opportunity to tour the Landing Drive Distribution Centre (LDDC) in Auckland.

While we work with the products arriving from the distribution centre every day, seeing the operation firsthand gave us a whole new appreciation for the scale, technology, and people involved in keeping stores supplied with groceries across the North Island.

From automated systems and high-density pallet storage to sustainability initiatives and electric equipment, it was fascinating to see the journey products take before they arrive on our shelves.

Some impressive facts about LDDC:
📦 Capacity for around 80,000 pallets
☀️ 2,880 solar panels on the roof
🌱 Over 47,000 native plants surrounding the site
⚡ All picking machines and golf carts are 100% electric

The visit provided valuable insight into the wider Foodstuffs network and highlighted the incredible work that happens behind the scenes to support our stores and customers every day.

A huge thank you to the LDDC team for taking the time to host us and share their knowledge.

🎓 Congratulations to our Store Manager, Daniel Benbow, on graduating from the Foodstuffs Retail Excellence (REX) Programme!

Over the past two years, Daniel has invested significant time and effort into developing his leadership capability through the REX programme, completing a range of projects focused on improving both team performance and business outcomes.

To top off this achievement, Daniel finished 3rd overall in his cohort, an outstanding result that reflects his dedication, commitment to excellence, and passion for continuous improvement.

As a leader, Daniel consistently challenges himself to learn, grow, and find better ways of supporting our team and serving our customers. His success in the programme is a testament to the hard work he has put in and the positive impact he continues to have on our store.

Congratulations, Daniel. We are incredibly proud of this achievement and grateful for the leadership you bring to New World Whakatāne every day.
