A massive Māniatoto welcome to all the players, officials, and supporters in town for the legendary Erewhon Cup ice hockey tournament this weekend! 🏒❄️

The EREWHON CUP - New Zealand’s oldest ice hockey trophy, contested since 1937. Come along and watch the action packed sports from tomorrow - Thursday 3pm and games running through the weekend until the finals at 11-30am on Sunday! We’ve got plenty of room for spectators, the BBQ hot and the The Waipiata Pie Company with their famous pies and other delicious morsels.

Our school production, Worth More Than Gold, will be held on Thursday 25th June. We’re excited for our students to shine on stage and look forward to sharing this special event with you.

Grab your skates!!! Thankfully winter has finally arrived and the ice is looking great. We will open tomorrow (Friday) 4pm -7-30pm and then Saturday and Sunday (11am-5pm). Great chance to grab a season pass and make the most of the ice.

Look what just rolled into the store! 🏎️🏆 This treasure was unearthed last week by Jacqui Crawford during a clean-out at the family’s Avoca Street property. It’s the official Champions Cup from the Naseby Combined Sports Club Trolley Derby, held in 1988.

According to the engraving, the glory that year went to T. Diack! It appears this race may have only been run the once, making this a quirky piece of history.

So, were you there in '88? Did you witness T. Diack fly down the hill to victory, or perhaps you risked life and limb in a homemade trolley yourself? We’d love to piece together more about the one hit Derby?
