Spring is in the air! The indoor growing is coming to an end and time to release this years chillies out into the wild. We have also had a full rebuild on our website so if your looking for any chilli seeds from mild to mind blowing hot jump on there for a look. The new website is a lot easier to find your seeds and hot sauces with Chilli Powders next on the menu.

Well, after a solid week of toil, the new Rata Farm website is finally at a point where I’m happy to release it into the wild.
It’s had a complete rebuild from the ground up with an all-new layout, a brand-new shop, a much better checkout system, and a far more powerful search and filtering setup to make finding the right seeds easier. You can now search by things like heat level, colour, species, seed type and Rata Farm originals, with plenty of extra features still sitting in the wings to be rolled out over the coming months.
I’ve built basic websites before, going right back decades, but this one has definitely been another level. Getting everything talking to everything else — products, stock, freight, rural delivery, payments, confirmation emails, order updates, refunds and all the behind-the-scenes stuff — has been a mission.
But I have to say, it’s pretty satisfying seeing a real order go through properly, the freight calculate correctly, payment process as it should, stock update automatically and the confirmation emails all fire off without a hitch.
There are still a few little things to tidy up and plenty more planned, but the back of the hard work is finally broken.

Rata Farm Sweet Chilli Sauce is the perfect all-rounder — sweet, tangy and packed with flavour with just enough chilli warmth to keep things interesting. Pour it over chicken, pork, fish or prawns, use it as a dipping sauce for spring rolls, dumplings and wedges, drizzle it over burgers, wraps or tacos, or add a splash to stir-fries, noodles and fried rice. There’s been no slowing down here over winter, with the mega super-hots still going hard under lights.

We’ve had some amazing crosses come through already, and we’re really looking forward to growing these out and seeing what monsters appear.

With the new season fast approaching, now is the perfect time to start thinking about seeds. We have one of the biggest chilli seed collections in New Zealand, with plenty of heat, colour, flavour, and rare genetics available.
