Red or green - nothing beats a fresh-picked winter crunch! 🫑✨ And these beauties just keep on giving. We're keeping our kitchen stocked and sharing the harvest with whānau.

Fun fact: those red ones are sweeter than the green ones because they’ve had extra time to ripen on the vine!

💪 Vitamin C Superstars: Red capsicums have almost double the Vitamin C of green ones - perfect for winter immunity!

👁️ Antioxidant Power: That deep red color is packed with beta-carotene, which is fantastic for eye health.

🔥 Natural Sweetness: Staying longer on the vine lets the natural sugars develop beautifully for cosy winter stir-fries or roasting.

Still hunting for green gold! 🕵️‍♂️ As you can see, the trees didn't completely get the memo that the season is over.

There's nothing left for the stall, so these cheeky few are going straight into the grower's lunchbox. Meanwhile, the next chapter begins this Friday when a delivery of new strawberry plants lands on-site.

What’s your go-to way to eat the very last feijoas of the year? 👇

Would you eat a twin feijoa, or is it too majestic to destroy? 😋

Getting a head start on sweeter days ahead 🍓

We’ve been busy bedding strawberry plants into pots, getting them strong and established, ready for sale in the coming months. There’s nothing quite like fresh strawberries picked straight from your own garden here in Murihiku.

A little bit of winter prep for a very tasty reward later on. Stay tuned for ways to get your hands on these wee beauties soon 👀

🗺️ "It's a 45-minute loop," we said. "It'll be fun," we said. 🧭🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️🐶

Look at that day. Blue skies. Barely a breath of wind. Riverton absolutely showing off. Look at us - calm, confident, completely in control.

This is footage of two people who have no idea what's about to happen to them.

The plan was simple. The Moores Lookout Track - a civilised 45-minute stroll to a treetop viewing platform. Jeans-appropriate. Breezy. Done by afternoon tea.

The platform remains, to this day, a complete myth to us. 🌲❌

Somewhere along the way we missed a turn so spectacularly that we accidentally enrolled in an entirely different walk - the Coastal Walking Track. Two hours. Rugged. No mercy. We can't even blame each other. Neither of us saw it coming. We just marched confidently into the wilderness like two people who had definitely read the map.

The bushwalk eventually spat us out onto the southern beaches. We weren't above the coastline on a lovely platform. We were in it, scrambling over rocks, through soft sand, under perfect blue skies. ☀️

🐾 Official Performance Reviews:
Bailey ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Unlimited beach. So many smells. 10/10 would trick my humans into a marathon again."
Us ❌ "We signed up for a looky-loo, not Bear Grylls: Riverton Edition."

We ended up making the ultimate call of shame - phoning for a rescue ride back to town. 🚙💨

Bailey slept for 24 hours. We spent the afternoon scrolling through photos, going "okay, it was actually stunning out there," and pretending that had been the plan all along.
(It had not been the plan all along.)

Late-season surprises in the garden 🌿

Today’s harvest brought more feijoa, some beautiful red capsicums, and a very unexpected bonus - ripe grapes! 🍇

The birds beat us to most of them through the season, so finding bunches still hanging and perfectly ready to eat at this chilly end of autumn felt pretty special.

Did you know jalapeños turn red as they fully ripen? 🌶️

As they change color, their flavor profile shifts from bright and grassy to sweet and spicy. We’ve been watching these beauties closely!

What’s your favorite way to use red jalapeños? Let us know in the comments!

Sometimes the best growth happens when you just get stuck in! Mike’s been tending to these passionfruit plants all season, and they’re looking lush on their new trellis. We’re keeping them cozy over the winter and can’t wait to see what the next season brings. 🌿✨
Any passionfruit pros out there with winter tips for us?

That time of year when the tomatoes start to slow right down.
Still a handful ripening away though - so you’ll spot a limited few at the roadside stall for a bit longer.
