Monavale Blueberries is looking for an Organic Orchard Operations - Horticulturalist to join our team from late August/early September.

As Australasia's largest organic blueberry orchard, we're proud to grow healthy, chemical-free food while leading the way in organic horticulture. This is an exciting opportunity to build your skills, work alongside a great team, and be part of a business that has been growing organically since 1985.

🍇 What you'll be doing:
• Plant propagation
• Pest and disease monitoring & management
• Irrigation management
• Pruning and planting
• Weeding and scrub cutting
• Harvest support
• Grading and packing
• Operating light machinery

🌱 What we're looking for:
✔ Horticultural qualification
✔ Experience in a similar role
✔ Interest in organic growing
✔ Strong work ethic and positive attitude
✔ Physically fit and motivated
✔ Reliable with own transport and NZ driver's licence

The numbers don't lie. Aotearoa New Zealand's organic sector is growing at twice the rate of the wider food and fibre sector, and the momentum is real.

Fonterra's South Island organic expansion is underway. BNZ says the business case for conversion stacks up. We now have a dedicated Associate Minister of Agriculture for Organics for the first time ever. And certified organic continues to lead on environmental credentials at a time when global markets are increasingly demanding exactly that.

Our sector generates $1.2 billion annually, with over $600 million in export earnings, and it is only getting stronger.

But momentum alone won't be enough. Organic farmers and producers need the government to show up as a genuine champion for the sector, not just acknowledge its existence. With an election on the horizon, now is the time to ask: how will you support the growth of organics?
