AI in aquaculture is only as reliable as the data behind it.

If a human expert can't clearly identify a sea lice or welfare injury in an image, the AI can't either. Controlled lighting, full fish coverage, and consistent capture conditions aren't technical details -they're the foundation of results you can trust.

Sea Lice: A Fish Welfare Problem, Not Just a Treatment Issue 🐟

Sea lice are often seen as a treatment problem — remove the parasite, and the issue seems solved. In reality, they affect fish welfare at every level. Chronic stress, skin damage, and weakened immunity leave fish more vulnerable to secondary infections, slow their growth, and increase mortality.

The impacts don’t stop there. Slower-growing fish can miss target harvest weights, production cycles shift, and declining welfare indicators can trigger regulatory scrutiny. What starts as a biological problem quickly turns into operational and financial challenges.
