Movie Review: "Me Over Us" When Ambition Breaks a Marr!age. This one h!ts different.
The Story:
Ryan lost his business. Man was very down, To survive, he had to work under his own wife Ruth. That’s where the wahala started.
Ruth became his boss, and “boss Ruth” forgot how to talk to her husband.
she’s glued to her laptop, busy 24/7. She started giving him instructions like staff, not like a husband. Respect just vanished.
Ryan later admits he was just looking for "peace, laughter, joy, and encouragement" that were missing at home.
So he found it with Kenna. The affair didn’t start with lûst. It started with emotional stärvätion. Kenna gave him the attention and listening ear he wasn’t getting from Ruth anymore.
What the movie got right
1.Power shift is real The poster says "When ambition takes the lead, love falls behind"
100% true. Ruth chose “Me” over “Us”. Her career grew, but the marriage suffered
2.No clear villäin Ryan isn’t excûsed for cheating. But the film shows how disrespect + emotional distance can push someone into bad decisions. Ruth’s focus on work created space for Kenna.
3.Consequences hit hard By the end, Ryan is asking for d!v0rce. He realized too late that chasing validation outside c0st him his home.
The Bottom line "Me Over Us" is uncomfortable because it’s relatable.
When one partner loses status and the other gains it, ego + respect get tested. Ruth wasn’t wrong for succeeding. Ryan wasn’t wrong for feeling emasculated. But both were wrong for letting communication die.
Rating:7.5/10. Eso D**e, Luchy Donalds and Cynthia Clarke delivered.
