6 BRIGADE SUSTAINS MAJOR OFFENSIVE IN TARABA: BANDITS’ CAMPS DESTROYED, TWO NEUTRALISED, WEAPONS RECOVERED AND KEY SUSPECT ARRESTED

Troops of Headquarters 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have intensified their ongoing offensive across Taraba State, recording multiple operational successes that include the destruction of bandits’ camps, neutralisation of armed elements, recovery of weapons, and the arrest of a key suspect linked to criminal activities in the region.

On 2 December 2025, troops launched a deliberate clearance operation under Operation Zafin Wuta across Shiid, Agia and Tyozua villages in Takum LGA following credible intelligence on the activities of armed groups within the Tor-Tser general area. As the soldiers advanced towards the mountainous hideouts, the bandits fled deeper into the rugged terrain, abandoning their camps. The troops conducted a detailed search before destroying the camps, which the criminals had previously claimed were inaccessible to security forces. In Tyozua, the fleeing bandits set ablaze a wooden bridge in an attempt to obstruct troop movement, but the soldiers pressed forward with determination and forced the criminals across the power line into neighbouring Benue State. During exploitation, one suspect, identified as Dahiru Maigari, was arrested and is currently undergoing preliminary investigation.

In a related development, troops conducted a fighting patrol around Karim Lamido and its environs on 4 Dec 25 to deny bandits freedom of movement. While moving towards Usmanu, the patrol came under fire from armed bandits concealed behind Wudompi Community. The soldiers responded swiftly, repelling the attack and neutralising two of the armed men. A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and 21 rounds of ammunition, with no casualties recorded on the part of own troops. The attackers are assessed to be members of the Karimjo faction responsible for recent attempts at regrouping within the area. Security within Karim Lamido remains calm, with troops maintaining heightened alertness.

Reacting to the sustained operational successes, Commander 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the professionalism and gallantry displayed by the troops. He stated that the series of operations once again demonstrates that no terrain is inaccessible to the Nigerian Army and no criminal enclave is beyond reach. He assured residents across Taraba State that the Brigade remains unwavering in its resolve to pursue criminals wherever they may flee and to sustain pressure until all threats to peace.

OPERATION PEACE SHIELD: 6 BRIGADE TROOPS APPREHEND THREE ARSON SUSPECTS IN KARIM TOWN, AVERT FRESH VIOLENCE

Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested three suspects in Karim Town, Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State, for their alleged involvement in the burning of a house belonging to a Wurkun resident in the early hours of Tuesday, 2 December 2025.

The suspects Bitrus Ishaya and Mamman Ibrahim from the Wudumpi area, and Emmanuel Adi from Step 2 were intercepted by troops at the scene of the incident shortly after the house had been set ablaze.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the claims by Bitrus and Mamman to be members of the Taraba Marshal were false, as both men failed to provide any form of official identification. Similarly, Emmanuel Adi, who claimed to be a vigilante operative, made inconsistent and suspicious statements during initial questioning. Their contradictory accounts, coupled with their presence at the scene of the arson attack, led to their immediate arrest.

The act is believed to be a deliberate attempt to exploit the already fragile tensions in parts of Karim Lamido LGA, where incidents involving local communities have heightened security concerns in recent days. The swift and proactive response of the troops successfully prevented the incident from escalating into a wider communal conflict.

The suspects are currently in military custody as investigations intensify to uncover their true identities, motives, and any possible connections to criminal elements operating under the guise of vigilante or community security outfits.

While commending the troops for their professionalism and vigilance, the Commander 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, reaffirmed the Brigade’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding peace and stability across the state. He warned that anyone attempting to ignite violence, destabilise communities, or fuel communal tensions will be decisively dealt with in accordance with the law.

He further called on residents to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and continue reporting suspicious movements or activities to support the ongoing peace efforts under Operation Peace Shield.

Massive Roads Construction Ongoing In Taraba State.

Fulfilling his promises, the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has mobilized contractors handling key road projects in Kurmi Local Government Area back to site.

The ongoing works include the Mararaba–Baissa, Baissa–Ashuku, and Ashuku–Abong roads — critical routes that connect several communities and enhance economic activities within the region.

This move reflects Governor Kefas’ commitment to infrastructural development across the state, ensuring that even remote areas feel the impact of good governance.

Similarly, massive road construction and rehabilitation efforts are ongoing in other parts of the state, including the Takum–Ussa and Wukari–Chinkai roads, further underscoring the administration’s determination to open up rural communities and boost inter-local government connectivity.

With these projects progressing steadily, Taraba State will continue to witness unprecedented transformation under the visionary leadership of Dr. Agbu Kefas.

In a bid to seek lasting peace in the mosque ownership dispute in Donga, yesterday I visited Donga town, where I met with leaders of various Islamic sects, traditional and religious authorities, and security agencies.

The meeting was held at the palace of the Gara Donga, HRH Amb. Sanvala Shimbura Verzoa.

To restore peace, I announced plans to build three new mosques for the involved sects, while the disputed Central Mosque remains closed. Sect leaders will submit cost proposals to start construction promptly.

Our duty as a government is to identify effective ways to resolve disputes expeditiously when they arise. There won't be development when people can't live with one another.

I urged Muslims in Donga to love one another, uphold brotherhood, and obey the words of Allah.

El-Suldi confirmed that the governor’s switch from PDP to APC is no longer a rumor, but a done deal. President Bola Tinubu has finalized the move, and it’s been handed over to the APC national chairman.

He said the party stakeholders in Taraba State will officially ratify it on November 4th, 2025, in Jalingo.

El-sudi disclosed that the state’s government house his party has been yearning for 13 years ago has been granted by God without going to polls.
