This is an incredibly difficult message for me to write and I know it is equally difficult for everyone who had the privilege of knowing you.
For over 24 hours, I was in complete disbelief. It didn’t feel real.
Then I saw the message announcing your transition on one of the food vendors’ groups we belong to.
Shortly after, another vendor called me, deeply emotional, asking, “Why did she have to leave us?”
I still do not have an answer to that question — and perhaps I never will.
, you were truly a good woman.
It is still hard for me to speak of you in the past tense.
Your smile was always genuine.
Your heart was selfless.
Your presence was warm and reassuring.
A former secondary school classmate of yours even reached out to me, sharing how kind and remarkable you had always been.
And my response has been the same every time .
Alwani was a good person.
If friends and colleagues feel this heavy sense of loss, I cannot begin to imagine what your beloved family is experiencing right now.
