DAY38 NIG2USA ON A BICYCLE 🇳🇬🚴🏽♂️🇺🇲
The most emotional part of today’s visit to the orphanage in Abidjan wasn’t the gifts we shared or the words of encouragement, it was during the prayers. I could feel the sincerity in their voices.
But something struck me deeply, there were no children around, all the kids are on Holiday, only the adults were around.
Here, during holidays, these children are welcomed into the homes of kind-hearted citizens who care for them until school resumes. Then, they return to the orphanage.
This reminded me of what Ghana's Minister of Art, Tourism, and Culture shared with me while im Accra, how his late father would also bring orphans home during holidays to give them a taste of family and belonging.
I’m truly impressed. Is this a tradition across Africa? If yes, Africa, thank you for embracing these little souls. If not, please, let this be a new beginning. These children need more than shelter, they need love, acceptance, and family.
Let’s open our hearts and our homes to them. They are not alone.
Together we ride, Together we rise.
