Is America Mystery Babylon in the Book of Revelation?

A lot of people are asking:
Is America the Mystery Babylon described in Revelation 17?
We’ve studied this for decades—and when we let the Bible interpret itself, the evidence points somewhere else entirely:
Rome. The Vatican. The city that sits on seven hills.
Let’s walk through the clues straight from Scripture:

1. Mystery Babylon is a great city
> “And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.” — Revelation 17:18
This eliminates America from the start. America is a nation. Mystery Babylon is a city—with global religious and political influence.

2. She sits on seven mountains (or hills)
> “The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.” — Revelation 17:9
Rome is famously known as the city on seven hills. The Vatican is seated there. This is not a metaphor—it's historical geography.

3. She’s clothed in purple and scarlet
> “…arrayed in purple and scarlet color…” — Revelation 17:4
These are official colors of the Roman Catholic clergy:
Purple for bishops
Scarlet (red) for cardinals
No other city in the world is adorned like this religiously and symbolically.

4. She’s decked with gold and precious stones
> “…decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand…” — Revelation 17:4
The Vatican is filled with unmatched opulence—gold, ornate jewels, relics, and cups used in ritual Mass services.

5. She is drunk with the blood of the saints
> “And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus…” — Revelation 17:6
History reveals that the Roman Catholic Church persecuted and executed millions during the Inquisition, the Crusades, and throughout the Dark Ages—all in the name of religion.

6. The woman rides the beast
She holds sway over a political system (the beast).
The Vatican today holds UN observer status, has its own government, ambassadors, and exerts global influence over kings and nations.

7. The candlesticks = the church
In Revelation 1:20, Jesus explains:
> “The seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.”
The use of a religious symbol shows that Mystery Babylon is a religious system, not a secular one. This is a fallen church.

What about America?
America has never been drunk with the blood of saints. It doesn’t sit on seven hills. It’s not dressed in purple and scarlet.
We believe America is actually symbolized by the eagle’s wings in Daniel 7:4 and Revelation 12:14, where it protects Israel—not persecutes the Church.

This is a touchy subject, but we don’t share it with hate—we share it with love and truth.
God is calling His people out of false religion and into a true, personal relationship with Jesus.
> “Come out of her, my people…” — Revelation 18:4
