Spanish football star Vicky López has dedicated her second consecutive Ballon d'Or Women's Young Player award to her late Nigerian mother, Joy Felix. 🇳🇬 🇪🇸

The 20-year-old Barcelona midfielder received the award on Monday, October 26, 2026, at a ceremony in London, England.

Her mother died from a brain tumour in 2018, when López was just 11 years old.

“Mum, although you can’t be with me physically, I feel your presence every day,” she said, thanking her mother for teaching her never to give up.

López, whose father is Spanish, also won the award in 2025, becoming its first female recipient.
