The objective of the "Healthy Child and Adolescent Initiative" is to promote and support the physical, mental, and social well-being of children and adolescents through comprehensive, evidence-based strategies. This initiative aims to ensure that all children and adolescents have access to the resources and support necessary to lead healthy and fulfilling lives, and to reduce the incidence and pre

valence of preventable health problems and risk-taking behaviors among this population. Specific objectives may include:

- Encouraging healthy behaviors, such as regular physical activity, healthy eating habits, and adequate sleep.
- Providing access to preventative healthcare services, including vaccinations, health screenings, and mental health assessments.
- Addressing social determinants of health, such as poverty, discrimination, and inadequate housing, that can negatively impact the health and well-being of children and adolescents.
- Supporting families and caregivers in their efforts to promote the health and well-being of children and adolescents.
- Providing education and resources to help young people make informed decisions about their health and well-being.
- Collaborating with community partners and stakeholders to create healthy environments that support the health and well-being of children and adolescents.

FOUNDER'S DAY IMPACT: HEALTH AND HOPE FOR CHILDREN

NextGen Child and Adolescent Health Initiative (NEGCAHI), formerly Healthy Child and Adolescent Initiative (HCAI), is implementing an Orphanage Medical Outreach today.

Guided by our mission to protect and promote the health, well-being, and rights of children and adolescents, and our vision of empowering a healthy generation to thrive, we intend to conduct basic health screenings, provide health education, and distribute essential items, bringing care, hope, and positively impacting young lives.

Today, an advocacy and courtesy visit was paid to the Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Council of Obanliku Local Government Area, led by the Obanliku LGA Primary Health Care team, as part of preparations for the upcoming Measles–Rubella Vaccination (MRV) Campaign scheduled for 4th–15th February, 2026.

The visit provided the platform to formally introduce our shared roles in Obanliku Local Government Area for the Measles–Rubella campaign.

Key partners, including CHAN, WHO, IVAC, and the LGA Primary Health Care team, were also formally presented to the Council.

Advocacy discussions focused on leadership support, community ownership, and system readiness to ensure a successful campaign with 100% coverage in Obanliku, contributing meaningfully to statewide coverage targets across Cross River State.

The MRV campaign targets children aged 9 months to 14 years. Alongside this, Routine Immunization (RI) services will be provided for children aged 0–23 months, while HPV vaccination will be administered to eligible 9 year old girls, ensuring an integrated and people-centred immunization approach.

We sincerely acknowledge the exceptional leadership and dedication of the Director General, Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Vivien Mesembe Otu, whose commitment continues to strengthen quality primary health care service delivery, expand access to hard-to-reach communities, and position Cross River State as a national leader in public health outcomes.

Together, through partnership, leadership, and shared responsibility, we remain committed to protecting every eligible child, strengthening primary health care delivery, and building a healthier Cross River State.
