Minna, the capital of Niger State, urgently needs a world-class private hospital that can serve as a reliable alternative to government health facilities, especially in times of emergency. We all know that private hospitals can be expensive, but when a loved one’s life hangs in the balance, money becomes secondary. No one should have to choose between life and availability of care. No family should have to bury someone simply because lifesaving facilities were not accessible.
This is not a call for government intervention, but a sincere appeal to well-meaning private individuals, philanthropists, and investors. It is a call for action action that can save lives, ease suffering, and uplift an entire state
How long shall we continue to mourn the loss of loved ones when we, together, have the capacity to change the story? How long shall we watch preventable tragedies unfold in our communities when we can build systems that protect our people?
Just this evening, my friend called me with a trembling voice. His wife, seven months pregnant, had gone into unexpected early labour. The doctors were able to stabilize her temporarily, but they made it clear they could not guarantee that the contractions would not return. The frightening part is this: doctors in the government hospitals are currently on strike. If the labour resumes, the premature baby may require emergency incubation. Yet in all of Minna, no private hospital has an incubator. And the professionals who run the government neonatal units are unavailable due to the strike.
This is not just the story of my friend's wife but a story of countless families living with fear, uncertainty, and helplessness every day.
This is where our entrepreneurs, business leaders, and visionaries must come in. Niger State is a fertile ground for investment in healthcare. We have the population, the demand, and even a functional airport that allows patients from within and outside the state to fly in and out for specialized care. With the right investment, Niger State can become a centre of medical tourism not just in Nigeria but across Africa.
Building a well equipped private hospital complete with emergency units, neonatal care, incubators, diagnostic centres, and specialist departments is not only a lucrative business opportunity, but also an act of profound service to humanity. It is an investment that will expand your financial base while positioning you as a lifesaver, a benefactor, and a pillar of hope in the community.
We appeal to our private sector leaders: Please step into this gap. The need is real, the opportunity is vast, and the lives that stand to be saved are countless.
Let us build the kind of healthcare system we would want our own families to rely on. Let us create a future where emergency care in Niger State is not a gamble, but a guarantee.
