Return of Edet Live in Calabar is a strong tale that inspires
Edet Arikpo was born and raised in Calabar, the capital city of Cross River State, Nigeria. He grew up in a loving family with his parents, Arikpo and Ngor, and his younger siblings, Eyong and Okwor. Their home was filled with laughter and warmth, located in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by tall palm trees and vibrant flowers.
As a child, Edet was curious and adventurous, always exploring the nooks and crannings of Calabar. He loved playing football with his friends in the open fields near the University of Calabar and listening to his mother’s stories about their ancestors from Ugep, their ancestral hometown.
But life took a turn when Edet's family decided to leave Calabar and return to Ugep, their hometown. Edet was heartbroken, leaving behind his friends, school, and the only life he knew. He didn't understand why they had to leave the city, where everything was familiar and comfortable.
"Why do we have to go, Mama?" Edet asked, tears in his eyes.
Ifeoma hugged him tight. "Papa needs to take care of his family land in Ugep, and we'll be closer to our roots, okay?"
Edet nodded reluctantly, knowing he'd follow his parents' decision. The move to Ugep marked the beginning of a new chapter in Edet's life, one filled with challenges and opportunities he'd never imagined.
The family settled into their ancestral home in Ugep, a big compound house with sprawling farmlands and tall ibo trees. Edet struggled to adjust to the quieter pace of village life, missing the hustle and bustle of Calabar.
Little did he know, this move would set him on a path he'd never expected.
