Politicians must stop overstepping their mandate. No politician has the legal authority to control who operates in a public market or to allocate trading spaces—this responsibility lies with designated county government departments and must follow due process.
It is deeply concerning that, after being denied approval to construct a private structure within the market, there are reports that the same politician is now threatening traders to vacate. If true, this would amount to intimidation and a serious abuse of office.
Public markets are not personal empires for political interests. They exist to support livelihoods, not individual gain.
Traders deserve protection under the law, transparency in governance, and leadership that serves—not threatens—them.
If leadership fails to respect the law, it risks losing the moral authority to lead.
