The affluent society in urban centres is becoming conscious of the danger of food products, particularly vegetables, which are grown with fertilizers and sewage discharge. n 2002 By the late Catherine Muyoma. This project came to a halt due to some technicalities but picked up in 2015. This project is aimed at empowering women and young people in Kakamega county. Production is based on a solar vegetable dehydration technology during sunny and dry seasons and on wood fuel kiln during rainy seasons. OBJECTIVES
1.Processing of fresh vegetables will encourage small scale farmers to venture into vegetable farming as a business.
2.Processing unit will encourage small scale farmers in Western Province to exploit the natural good weather, the fertile soils and the abundant human resources available in Kakamega County, the growing demand to take horticulture farming seriously.
3.The project will encourage small scale farmers in the district to venture into better alternatives for maximum food production from the available small pieces of land without encroaching on the remaining portions of land presently devoted to maize and production.
4.The project will create employment opportunities in the rural areas to occupy the idle youth and school drop-outs.
5.Traditional vegetables have certain medicinal properties that are known to inhibit opportunistic diseases. In processed form these vegetables will always be available in the market during the vegetable off-season. TRY OUR VARIETY OF VEGETABLES TODAY.
