Suppat Suppat is an initiative by Dynamic Tarang [P] Ltd to help improve famer's income through Aggregation, Processing & Marketing (APM) Model.

It will definitely be a surprising moment, if you find “Khajoor Gud” absent from any Bengali family kitchen during winter season. This is a traditional jaggery from Bengal and can only be found in the Indian state of West Bengal and in Bangladesh whch is made from the sap of Khajoor (Date) Tree. It is also called “Notun Gur” in Bengal or “New Jaggery” and is only extracted during the winter months

. During summer, the heat at night makes the sap rancid and alcoholic. It’s found in semi liquid and solid form. Its unique delicious taste makes people to fell in love, one they taste. A farmer generally from “Pasi Community”, tie an earthen pot on the tree and a cut the tree in such a way that sap start coming out in drip and collected in the pot. The sap is collected in the pot which is then boiled in iron pots a, concentrated and filtered. The gud does not have any added chemicals to it and is not “processed” in any other form. It is considered to be healthier than other sugars as it retains nutrients in the sap (despite the boiling).The jaggery is rich in iron, potassium and zinc and other minerals and even contains fibers. It is also good for children, pregnant and lactating mothers. It is a YUMMY feel to taste Khajoor Gud. It is sweet and taste like any high brand delicious chocolate. The product is versatile and can be used in making variety of recipes. It can be consumed directly with bread or to make kheer, misthi dohi, sweets etc. Jaggery is mixed with other ingredients, such as peanuts, condensed milk, coconut, and white sugar, to produce several locally marketed and consumed delicacies. The company is marketing its food products with brand name SUPPAT in compliance with Food Safety & Standards Act of India (FSSAI) norms. The company endeavors to take up more food products by organizing farmers through its Aggregation, Processing & Marketing (APM) Model.

SUPPAT IS AN EFFORT TO IMPROVE ON FARMERS INCOME THROUGH AGGREGATION, PROCESSING & MARKETING (APM) MODEL

The promoters of Dynamic Tarang [P] Ltd, a unique model of Social Enterprise which works with a vision of “Brick by Brick Innovations to help change lives of People”, thought of making some initiatives to help promote rural livelihood.

Suppat, which is pronounced for Super in local tribal dialect of Jharkhand, India came into existence from that initiative when a chain of small convenience retail stores were established in partnership with Self Help Groups... The stores were not only selling general household food products, but also aggregating rural produce and was sent to nearby urban market for selling... The pilot was not too lucrative in terms of business, but this initiative carved the path to do something meaningful that increase farmers income...

By 2013, the First Food Processing Plant was established at Barari Industrial Area, Bhagalpur was established to produce “Khajoor Gud (Dates Jaggery)” by aggregating the early morning sap of Dates Tree... The effort was good, product was OK but still a limited success in terms of business as marketing a single product was too difficult...
