🥭 OUR STORY, PART 3: TAKING THE RISK ❤️🇵🇭🇮🇪

Having an idea is one thing. Turning it into a real business is another! 🙈

When we started looking into bringing Filipino fruits to Ireland, we quickly realised there was so much more involved than simply ordering mangoes.

Minimum order quantities, freight costs, customs, inspections, storage and making sure the fruit arrived in good condition. 📦✈️

And of course, there were plenty of doubts.

What if the fruit didn’t sell? What if something went wrong? What if we lost money?

As a small couple-run business, every decision mattered. We were putting our own money, time and effort into something we truly believed in.

But we had a reason for starting Island Mango — to bring a little taste of home closer to Filipinos living in Ireland. 🥭❤️

We didn’t have everything figured out then, and to be honest, we’re still learning every day.

We’re learning from our mistakes, finding better ways of doing things and taking each challenge as it comes. What matters is that we keep moving forward and continue building something we believe in. ❤️

We’re getting lots of orders coming in for our next batch, which is expected to arrive very soon! Thank you so much for the continued support. ❤️

Just a little reminder about how our shipments work: once we reach our minimum order quantity (MOQ), we confirm the shipment and book the flight. ✈️

If you miss out on this next batch, our following shipment will be our Christmas batch, expected to arrive around the second week of December. 🎄🎅

If you’re interested in getting some fresh Philippine mangoes and other favourites for Christmas, we can secure your order in advance so you don’t miss out!

One little thing to keep in mind: if Christmas is anything like last year, many of the mangoes arrived greener and needed a little extra time to ripen. So it’s worth planning ahead! 🥭

We’ll also share a photo in the comments of some of our December orders from last year, when Island Mango was just getting started. Look how far we’ve come! ❤️

First time trying mangosteen, and the face says it all.😄

Purple on the outside, sweet and a little tangy on the inside. In the Philippines, it's one of those fruits you grow up looking forward to. Seeing a young kid in Ireland open one for the first time was a proper highlight for us.

Huge thanks to this little taste tester (and his parents for letting us share it) 💜

If you haven’t already, please go check this place out. TRIBE Trucks Bettystown. (Now called “The Barn”)

Homemade, delicious food, tasty treats, friendly and welcoming staff. Their coffees are soo good aswell.

One of our favourites and regular places to visit.
P:S their signature hash browns are super crispy and yummy.
