A little taste of Italian luxury...

Some products earn their place on the shelf because they're popular. Others earn it because they're genuinely exceptional.

These chocolate and Piedmont hazelnut cantuccini fall firmly into the second category.

Made with prized Piedmont hazelnuts and rich extra dark chocolate, they're beautifully balanced - deeply chocolatey, satisfyingly crunchy and, importantly, not overly sweet. Every ingredient has been chosen for flavour rather than simply adding sweetness, which is what makes them feel so special.

One takes you straight to our Google reviews page and the other straight to our page. You can scan the QR code, or if you really want to embrace the future, just tap your phone on the top like you're making a contactless payment and it'll take you straight there.

Now, if you're reading this on Facebook, you've already successfully found our page without the stand... but that's not really the point, is it?

If you'd like to experience the sheer excitement of tapping your phone on a piece of plastic and watching technology do its thing, you'll have to pop into the deli and give it a go for yourself!

Polenta... one of Italy's oldest comfort foods 🇮🇹

Whilst pasta tends to steal the spotlight, polenta has been a staple of Italian cooking for centuries, particularly in the northern regions of Italy such as Veneto, Lombardy and Piedmont.

Made from ground cornmeal, polenta is incredibly versatile. Traditionally, it's served soft and creamy alongside slow-cooked meats, rich ragùs, mushrooms or melted cheeses, often taking the place of potatoes or bread at the table.

Once cooled, polenta sets firm and can then be sliced, grilled, baked or fried, making it a fantastic ingredient for all sorts of dishes.

A little confession from me... Gianluca's English wife (and official social media manager! 🙋🏼‍♀️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿).

Tonight, Gianluca came home with a packet of Parmigiano Reggiano from the Deli that's about to be sprinkled over our pasta and meatballs for dinner.

Looking at the packaging, I noticed it said "BIO" on the front and wondered what it meant..

And that's when I learnt something new today! 🤯

In Italy, "bio" is simply short for "biologico", which means organic.

🇮🇹 So when Italians see "BIO" on food packaging, they immediately think organic produce.

🇬🇧 Meanwhile, us Brits see the word "bio" and immediately think of washing powder! 😂👕👚🫧

So "latte biologico" of course means organic milk, and you'll often spot "BIO" on authentic Italian food products because it's the term used throughout Italy for organic foods!

Now, maybe everyone else already knew this and I'm just late to the party...

But if, like me, you've noticed "BIO" on Italian packaging without knowing what it meant, hopefully I've taught you something new today!

Please tell me I'm not the only one who didn't know this! 🇮🇹🧀❓️❓️❓️

🇮🇹 Exciting things are happening at Rizzo Italian Deli - Worcester...

Following the announcement of our FREE walk-in guided tasting on Saturday 13th June, we're already looking ahead and planning even more ways for you to enjoy great Italian food and wine with us.

One of the things we're most excited about is introducing regular walk-in wine tastings every weekend. The idea is simple: drop in, taste a selection of wines, learn a little about them, and hopefully discover your next favourite bottle to take home. No pressure, no formal seating, no need to book - just great wine and good company.

We're also looking at introducing:

🚚 Local delivery for wine and dry food products.

🍝 Pasta-making masterclasses, where you'll learn authentic Italian techniques and recipes.

🥖 Fresh focaccia and ciabatta, generously filled with Italian cured meats and cheeses, available to grab and go 💨

We've also had several particular Italian product enquiries. If there's something you're looking for that we don't currently stock, please ask. We can source most Italian products, so whether it's a favourite pasta, biscuit, cheese, wine or regional speciality, we'll do our best to get it for you. 🙂

Saturday 13th June | 12 Noon – 5pm

Join us at Rizzo Deli, in collaboration with Rizzo Wine Club for the launch of a brand-new series of relaxed, informal walk-in wine tastings.

These tastings are all about giving our guests the opportunity to discover and taste some of the incredible wines, cheeses, cured meats and authentic Italian products we carefully stock at the deli - while also meeting the passionate people behind them.

To launch the series, we’ll be joined by our friend Luca from Luca Wines.

Luca is a true specialist in the wines of Piedmont, one of Italy’s most prestigious wine regions - home to Barolo, Barbaresco, Arneis, white truffle, and an endless list of incredible food and wine traditions.

Throughout the afternoon, Luca will be pouring and talking through a selection of special Piedmont wines, while we serve complimentary deli nibbles for you to enjoy alongside the tasting.

No booking required.
Completely free to attend.
Simply walk in anytime between 12pm and 5pm.

This is not a formal seated tasting - just a relaxed opportunity to taste something special, learn more about the products we stock at Rizzo Deli, chat about wine and food, and spend time with fellow lovers of Italian culture and hospitality.
