🧀 CHEESE OF THE WEEK: NORTHERN BLUE 💙

Big flavour. Creamy texture. Proper Yorkshire character.

This week, we’re getting stuck into Northern Blue from Shepherds Purse Artisan Cheeses — our neighbours over in North Yorkshire, making award-winning cheeses with serious character.

Think luxuriously creamy, beautifully rich and savoury, with a bold blue tang, a hint of sweetness and a lovely lingering finish. This is blue cheese with a bit of attitude! 💪🧀

Matured for a minimum of 10 weeks, Northern Blue is the more powerful sibling of the much-loved Yorkshire Blue. And it’s got the awards to back it up, too! 🏆
Northern Blue won Gold at both the 2026 British & Irish Cheese Awards and the 2026 Artisan Cheese Awards, alongside two stars at the 2025 Great Taste Awards.
How would we serve it?

Did you know we have a vineyard right here on our beautiful North Yorkshire coast?

We’re delighted to showcase these rather special bottles from Sheveling W**e Estates and Robin Hood’s Bay Vineyard — homegrown Yorkshire w**e with a fantastic local story behind it.

🍇 Sheveling Brut Rondo 2023 — a gorgeous deep pink sparkling w**e made using the traditional method, giving it a real touch of celebration and sophistication.

🥂 Sheveling Classic Brut — an elegant, dry sparkling w**e that’s perfect for raising a glass, celebrating a special occasion or simply treating yourself.

The vineyard was established in 2017 by Ian and Rebecca Sheveling, with vines growing above Robin Hood’s Bay and views across our stunning Yorkshire coastline.

We love championing fantastic local and regional producers, and it’s brilliant to have w**es with such a strong connection to our part of the world.
