Tayberries!!

We are now picking absolutely delicious tayberries!! And if we get the sun we are forecast then we should have absolutely tons!!

(For those of you that don’t know a tayberry is an incredible cross between a raspberry and a blackberry)

Pop down to Niton Undercliff to get some now! We are open Monday to Saturday 9:30 to 5:00.

Thanks very much to Island Roasted Coffee for supplying so much coffee chaff!

The first picture shows a bed prior to weeding. The rest of the photos show the rest of the process; weeding and hoeing, clearing the weeds, spreading the coffee chaff, and netting if necessary. The final picture (Thanks to Boaz) is a photograph taken from a drone, showing sixteen of our veg growing beds covered in chaff!

We use coffee chaff because it adds nitrogen to the soil, supresses weeds, and the slugs and snails do not like it!

Lots of hard work clearing our green manure cover crop of phacelia and crimson clover and putting the cuttings around the summer raspberries. Well done lads!

Most produce is picked ON THE DAY it is delivered! And just a little reminder that we use absolutely NO pesticides, herbicides or fungicides and NO chemical fertilisers! 🌱

Did you know…for lots of fruit and veg they are actually MORE NUTRITIOUS and more FLAVOURSOME the closer you eat them to when they have been picked! Pretty much everything that we sell in our little shed has been picked ON THE DAY it is sold! The only exceptions are potatoes and the odd fruit item! Head on down to BOOST your nutrient intake with freshly picked lettuce and spinach today!!! 🍃
