Would you like to join us?
We are looking for home cooks, bakers, growers, makers and volunteer helpers. Rye Country Market is not like the Thursday Market: we are a cooperative venture, meaning that we all do our bit when it comes to running the Friday Market.
It’s an indoor market with all the sales tables supplied. There is no charge for a table, but RCM takes 10% of sales to cover hall rental, running costs and insurance. We are part of the national network of Country Markets Ltd. which grew out of the much-loved W.I. markets.
Our sales system ensures that all purchases and money go through a single cash desk, and then at the end of the month you receive your pay out.
Our market thrives on diversity - our handmade crafts, home-grown fruit, vegetables & flowers, freshly made food & treats - all are cooked, crafted and grown with care by people from all walks of life. We have a great following amongst the residents of Rye, who regularly queue up before the market doors open at 10am on Fridays.
We’re more like a big family than a marketplace - we support one another, laugh together, and share the joy of working together. Some of us are hard workers and bring lots to the tables, others bring just a few things, it doesn’t matter what size your enterprise is!
If you think you might like to make money from your skills or just fancy a couple of hours helping, drop in on a Friday morning to the Community Centre, Conduit Hill at around 10:30am (once the initial rush of buyers is over) with samples of your goods. We’d be delighted to meet you!
