Monks Delicatessen We are Britain’s oldest family-run delicatessen; selling fine food to the good people of Runcorn since 1884. Need some lunch?

According to British folklore you should make a silent wish when you eat your first mince pie of the festive season.

We’ve not decided yet whether to wish for a white Christmas or for cheese to contain zero calories, but when we’ve decided we won’t be able to tell you or it won’t come true! 🤫

Next up in our festive lineup with have Williams Handbaked Christmas cakes. These luxury cakes are packed with fine vine fruits, sultanas, raisins, glacé cherries, dates, almonds, and mixed peel. The fruit is soaked in apricot fruit w**e, perfectly spiced, and topped with a layer of marzipan and white icing. Available in 2 sizes. Also joining the lineup this year is their jewelled fruitcake topped with whole almonds and glacé cherries. These are absolutely not to be missed. The only problem with grabbing one early is you WILL eat it and need to come back for another before Christmas 😉

I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately, but as we head towards *THAT* time of year, I thought I’d share some exciting products that are starting to appear!

Starting off with one of our favourite suppliers: Mrs Darlingtons. Their entire festive range is now available at the deli.

Their Winter Berry & Mulled W**e Jam is phenomenal, and no Christmas cheeseboard is complete without a jar of their sticky figgy Boxing Day Chutney.

A reminder that we’re open Friday and Saturday this week as normal, then we will be closing for 2 weeks for our annual Summer holiday shutdown. Come and stock up on your deli favourites as we’re not back until Tuesday 1st September!

We’ve had a lot of people asking about our annual shutdown for summer holidays and a lot of confusion about dates so we thought we’d post a little update.

Our last day will be Saturday 15th August.
The shop will then shut for 2 weeks to give our wonderful team a break before we reopen after the August bank holiday on Tuesday 1st September.

So you’ve still got 2 full weeks to stock up on all your deli favourites to tide you over while we’re closed. Pretty much everything we sell freezes (including all the pies!) so clear some space in your freezer and stock up!

We had the pleasure of putting together this grazing board for Richard’s daughter, Olivia’s, 30th birthday celebration at the weekend!

It looked fantastic and was packed with some of our favourite cheeses, charcuterie, chutneys and deli treats. 🧀🍇🥖

While assembling grazing boards for events isn't a service we offer, we know lots of people would love to have a go at creating one themselves. The good news? It's much easier than you might think!

Woweeee! ☀️ It looks set to be a scorcher this weekend! We’ve got you all set for the bank holiday whatever your plans are:

🌭 Sausages for the BBQ
🥓 Bank holiday bacon butty!
🍗 Cooked meats for the ultimate picnic
🥧 Pies galore
🧀 Over 50 varieties of cheese and all the extras you need for a next level grazing board
🍰 Cakes and treats (because if you can’t be a little bit naughty at the weekend then when can you?! 🤷🏽‍♀️)
🥤 Chilled drinks in the fridge (BYOGin 😉)

A little reminder that we are closing at the slightly earlier time of 12pm midday on Saturday, and the deli is shut over the bank holiday and reopens on Thursday 28th May to give our wonderful team a chance to rest and enjoy the sun ☀️
