Our four dogs, two Poms & two Spaniels will tell you there are advantages in living next to a Butchery.
This afternoon person or persons unknown (Marnie) gave the dog some bones and amongst them was a large beef hip bone. It was in the garden and Mila, the Pomeranian was guarding it against all comers.
They then came in for the night and Spaniel puppy got the bone. He put it in his cage and as soon as everybody was in bed and settled there was trouble. Everybody else wanted the bone. I managed to get it out of the cage and threw it out into the garden. However, both spaniels followed. Puppy was persuaded to come in without the bone and he went into his cage. Louis came in with the bone.
We all went to bed.
We thought they were fine because the two Poms were exiled to the front room. All manner of persuasion was used to take the bone off of Louis to no avail. He is now downstairs chewing the bone and it's dropping on the floor and banging and no one can get to sleep The puppy keeps yapping because he wants the 🦴
Following much grumbling by puppy and eldest unmarried, Marnie set off with a broom. This is a highly dangerous approach to separate dog from bone and stay safe at the same time. The idea is to push the bone to the other end of the room, then grab it before the dog can. I followed, trying to ensure the safety of Louis, who was very protective of said bone and in no mood to surrender it.
As always Marnie won. However the puppy is still howling.
Puppy ended up sleeping in the Office.
This morning the bone is still in the garden & all the dogs are ignoring it.
