Today we had a visit from Shropshire barn owl group and were delighted to learn that we have 5 babies in our box! Their ages range from around 37 to 52 days old so they're in varying stages of fluffiness 🥹
Their parents are roosting elsewhere now and will just visit to drop off food for them, and the oldest ones aren't too far from fledging.
It's been a really good year for them this year which is a relief after last year, when our nest box was empty for the first time, and in many other places there weren't many.

The abundance of acorns and hawthorn berries last autumn means that there are lots of field mice and voles around for them to eat this year, so lots of owls! Hurray! 🎉🦉

Bit of a before and after tunnel transformation as the overwintered and heavily bolting spinach makes way for tomatoes!

Ticked a big job off the list today - 22 wheelbarrow loads of compost, 40 odd bamboo canes, 40 something sunflowers and 20 sweet peas planted out!
Probably should be prioritising veg beds but I just really wanted to grow these two flowers this year, because they make me happy. They've been sitting looking at me for months (I sowed the sweet peas in January! 🫠) poor things looked very rootbound but hopefully they'll be much happier now with lots of lovely compost to grow into.

Just need to water them in now but I'm having a little lie down first 😅

Today - cut my finger on a new knife and found some yarrow to staunch the bleeding (I do have a first aid kit in my field kitchen but this felt quicker 🤣)

Lots of side quests and then the lovely Ali came to give me a hand clearing the chard to make way for cucumbers next week! It was actually surprisingly quick, the chard seemed to have blocked out a lot of the weeds so I just need to do a bit along the edges before I get my cucs in.

And finally, Canada goslings! 😍

Three orders out the door this morning including these beautiful lettuce heads to Quatt farm shop! You can also find some of my leaves at .severn in Bridgnorth 💚

Had a slightly frustrating afternoon fiddling around with bracing and crop bars on my polytunnel... But luckily Dibs was on hand for cuddles while we sheltered from the rain 🥰
My honesty shop will be open and fully stocked all weekend, pop in anytime, at Weston house on the B4368 (on the corner going up to Ditton Priors)

She is risen!!! 🎉
The polytunnel is back up, much muddier, wonkier and tougher than ever before 💪🏻
Thank you so so sooo much to the heroes who helped me 🙏🏻 Kevin with his metal wizardry, my wonderful aunty Gill and cousins and (and Clover of course 😍) and to and Len, and my lovely Mum helped a bit too 💚
Often it can feel a bit lonely setting up a business on your own but I feel so grateful to have such a wonderful family and community around 🙏🏻

Tree planting with Dibs, first dandelions and first salad pick this week!

Made the most of the rare bit of sunshine and wet ground to get these native hedgerow species planted around the pond, thanks to the for donating these!
Every time someone signs up to the greener camping club they plant trees and donate wildflower seeds and bird boxes to sites - another great incentive to book a camping holiday with them! 💚
