We had a lovely surprise on Saturday night. 🏆

For the fifth year running, our butchers and deli in Market Deeping won Deeping Retailer of the Year at the Deeping Business Awards — and we honestly couldn’t be prouder.

Of course there needs to be a huge thank you to our team, who are there every single week serving the community. The faces you get to know, and who get to know you. But also to our wider team — from the office to the butchery and kitchen, and everyone across all our shops. This one belongs to all of you.

And most importantly — thank you to everyone who voted for us. Retail isn’t easy for anyone at the moment, so the support from our customers means the world to us. It really does. Thank you so much. 🏆

This is Halfpenny Green W**e Estate's Red Sparkling — a 2021 vintage English sparkling w**e from one of the most celebrated vineyards in the country.

Halfpenny Green has been growing vines in the rolling hills of South Staffordshire since 1983, and in 2024 they were crowned W**emaker of the Year at the W**e GB Awards, picking up 32 regional awards in the process. These are serious w**e makers.

A red sparkling English w**e is something a bit different — and that's exactly why Lizzy picked it. If you're looking for something to take to a dinner party, something to impress, or just something genuinely interesting to open on a Saturday evening, this is worth a look.

It's the season for a proper warming pie and we've got a brilliant selection in our freezers right now. Go traditional with a Steak Pie or Steak and Kidney, or liven up your midweek with something a bit different — our Chicken & Chorizo or Pulled Pork with C***r and Mustard are both absolutely worth trying.

They cook from frozen too, so there's no planning required. Just pull one out of the freezer when you get home and let the oven do the work.

Did you know that as well as our shops, we have a unit at Melton Mowbray Cattle Market? We've been there for many decades — longer than our shops in fact — and you'll find us there every Tuesday. 🥩

This weekend we're also open at the East Midlands Food Festival on 3rd and 4th October and we are absolutely buzzing for it. Our pans will be on all weekend — bacon and egg rolls for breakfast, hot food for lunch — so come and find us when hunger strikes.

There's a lot of doom and gloom talked about the state of the high street these days, but we like to think that by being here, we add something to the mix in Bourne, Stamford and Market Deeping. A reason to come into town on a Saturday morning and browse, chat, and pick up something worth cooking.

There's something nostalgic about a proper butcher's display on a Saturday morning. The smell of the shop, the colour of the counter, knowing the people behind it. It's the kind of thing worth holding onto.

Happy weekend-eve! It's going to be a busy one. 🎪🥩

Right now we're busy getting our stand set up at the South of England Showground in West Sussex for their Autumn Fair — it's a long way from south Lincolnshire but we love making the trip down for their seasonal fairs. If you're heading there this weekend, come and find us.

And for our fans — we've brought a limited supply of Turkey Butterflies with us, ready to freeze for Christmas. Yes, we know it's September. No, we're not apologising. 🎄

As always we've brought quite the range with us to help you fill your freezer, so there's plenty to choose from.

Closer to home, we're also at Southwell Ploughing Match tomorrow and Donnington Scarecrow Festival on Sunday. The weather looks pretty good this weekend so we're hoping to see plenty of hungry, familiar faces at both events — there'll be lots of hot food ready and waiting.

Something a bit special in at Market Gate Deli this weekend. 🌾🍺

We've just taken delivery of Hawkstone Wildthing — the brand new limited edition l***r that Jeremy Clarkson's Hawkstone Brewery made in collaboration with Wildfarmed, the regenerative farming pioneers. It's a 4.6% wild barley l***r brewed specifically to celebrate British farming and get people thinking about where the ingredients in their pint actually come from. It only launched this month and we've got it in stock now.

And here's the bit we love — we already stock Wildfarmed's regenerative flour too. Bread flour and pizza flour, both grown using farming methods designed to restore soil health and support nature.

Two products, one shared mission — farming done properly, for the long term. Both now in at Market Gate Deli in Market Deeping.

We're at Flintham Show tomorrow and we can't wait! 🐄

If you haven't been to Flintham before, it's one of those proper traditional country shows that reminds you exactly why we love rural life. Horse ploughing, hedging competitions, livestock, craft tents, horticultural marquee, trade stands — a full day of proper countryside entertainment for the whole family.

And of course, with so much to see and do, you're going to get hungry. That's where we come in.
