**Part-Time Calf Rearer – Starting January**
*Little Town Farm*

Little Town Farm is looking for a dedicated **part-time calf rearer** to join our team from January.

**Hours & Availability**
We require cover for **Fridays and Sundays** for calf feeding, with some flexibility to assist during holidays.
Typical hours are:

* **6:30–9:00am**
* **3:30–5:00pm**
Start and finish times can be adjusted slightly for the right candidate, and **additional hours** may be available upon request.

**Key Responsibilities**

* Feeding calves
* Bedding up
* Monitoring and treating any sick calves
* Preparing colostrum
* Setting up new calf pens
* Cleaning and disinfecting pens and equipment

**Experience**
Previous experience working with cows is **essential**. Training will be provided for all aspects of calf husbandry.

After the sucess of our previous apprentice and recent farm expansion, we are looking to take on one or two more general farm apprentices with the view to offer a permanent full time role at the end of the course. This role would suit any school or college leaver who is looking to expand their knowledge ff dairy farming, broaden their skill set and and join our hardworking synergistic team.
Some of the roles you will have opportunity to take on could include:
• cattle heath and welfare
• cattle and youngstock nutrition
• calf rearing
• robotic milking machine maintenance
• milking
• tractor driving and machinery work
• opportunity for additional paid for qualifications such as, Youngstock management, Medicines course or Artificail Insemination
The apprenticeship will be run in conjunction with Myerscough College.
The right candidates will need to be pleasant and friendly, punctual, have a keen eye for detail, be able to work as part of a team and have a willingness to learn. It would be advantageous to have some experience of working with livestock.
