Grass management is more science than you’d think. 🌿

Billy at South Stoke Farm breaks it down - and it turns out, cows are picky.

Leave the field uneven? They’ll find the good bits and ignore the rest. So before anything grazes, the cover has to be right.

Then it’s a 30 day rotation; new paddock, let the last one recover, repeat. Simple in theory. A lot of work in practice.

She left corporate world and he never left the land. Together, they’re building something from scratch.

Alice & Billy started with sheep, moved into cattle, and officially began milking at South Stoke Farm in February 2025.

Alice kept her job in dairy genetics to keep things moving; up at 5:30am for milking, off to the day job, back for afternoon milking.

Every single day. Between them, they’ve got it covered.

And then there’s Mary, cow 4078 - who does a little skip every time she enters the parlour.
