The circle of the doughnut represents both the crown of thorns on Jesus' head and the continuous cycle of life with the Resurrection.
The eggs and the crossed webbing above the egg dome recall Calvary, crucifixion and rebirth.
The presence of pecorino in the dough also has a symbolic value.
In fact, it is made from sheep''s milk, hence the lamb, which is a symbol of purity and innocence.
