Today we're celebrating Katie and the amazing journey she's shared with us 💗

As a member of the Asda marketing team, Katie has spent the last 18 years helping share the life-saving messages behind Tickled Pink.

When she found a lump during a routine breast check, those same messages helped her recognise a change and get it checked.

After treatment, Katie returned to work earlier this year and continues to use her experience to support and inspire others by sharing her story.

We're so proud to call Katie part of the Asda family. ✨

A huge thank you to all our generous customers, colleagues and volunteers who've been supporting our Tickled Pink breast cancer campaign throughout October.

Colleagues have been putting on their pink T-shirts, wigs and tutus as they tackle fundraising sponsored walks and dips in the chilly sea, dress up in 80s clothes, have fun afternoon teas, have their hair dyed, their heads and beards shaved... and even their legs waxed!

Community champion Michelle, from our Gosforth store, said: "A big thank you to all our customers and colleagues who have supported us. We've had a fun time but also given a serious shout out to check them b***s and pecs. Know your normal. If in doubt get checked out."

Tickled Pink is the partnership between Asda, Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel! and this year we've been celebrating our 30th anniversary! That’s 30 years of reminding more people to check their b***s, pecs or chests and 30 years of helping more people find breast health information and support when they need it. We've raised more than £100 million over the last 30 years for world-class research, life-changing support and vital breast awareness information.

When home shopping driver Dan's van broke down two hours from the Swansea store and couldn't immediately be fixed he continued his deliveries on foot to make sure his customers still got their shopping.

Dan was delivering to the village of Cribyn near Lampeter when the automatic gears failed and the van couldn't move. Knowing it wouldn't be a quick fix, he decided to do everything he could to get customers' shopping to them. He said: "I was quite close to a customer's home so I got the trolley out and filled it with crates and took it to their house. The next one was on the other side of the village – about a 20-to-30-minute walk – so I again packed up the trolley and started walking. It was quite dark by then and there were no street lights on the final stretch so I had to use the torch on my phone. The customer was really grateful, a little bit dumbstruck that I'd walked with his shopping, but grateful. The area is very rural and there aren't many shops, that's why we deliver here. I wanted the customers to get their deliveries."

Store manager Andre, who's nominated Dan for an Asda service superstar award, said: "When I heard what Dan had done I immediately felt proud of his actions and wanted to ensure he got the recognition he deserved. That night he went out of his way and showed real determination to ensure his customers were not let down, delivering some on foot and waiting with his van for recovery which meant he didn't get back to store until the early hours. Dan's actions that evening shows what a great colleague he is and how is always willing to help his fellow colleagues and customers no matter the circumstances."

25/10/2026

Community champion Sam from our Dundee Kirkton store is a passionate supporter of our Tickled Pink breast cancer campaign and says awareness of self checking helped to save her life.

Sam was diagnosed with breast cancer after finding a lump during a regular ‘self-check’ in 2022. Following a lumpectomy, she had 16 rounds of chemotherapy followed by 20 sessions of radiotherapy, which came to an end in December 2023 – almost a year after she first found her lump.

She said: "Ever since I started as a community champion in 2014, a role which got me directly involved with the campaign every year, I did the checks like clockwork, once a month in the shower. I thought, ‘You can’t tell other people to check themselves if you’re not doing it yourself.’

She said having her own experience with breast cancer has supported her work with the Tickled Pink campaign, which marks 30 years this month: “With lived knowledge, people know I haven’t just read about this in a book and they tend to listen to what I’m saying. It’s emotional of course, but if I can encourage more people to check themselves regularly, then I’ll take that as a win.”

Sam is now working locally to encourage GP surgeries in Dundee to include information about self-checking as an add-on to regular smear tests, in a campaign she’s calling ‘Swipe and Squeeze’.

Community champion Jo from our Pwllheli supermarket is a passionate supporter of our Tickled Pink breast cancer campaign – raising tens of thousands of pounds for charity partners Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel! over the 20 years since the store opened.

It's a cause very close to Jo's heart. She said: "Tickled Pink means so much to me as I have lost so many of my family and friends to breast cancer, including my mum, grandmother, my sister and my aunt, and I've had a few health scares myself. To me Tickled Pink is all about hope, awareness, kindness, knowledge ... and vital fundraising. It's also about having fun with colleagues and customers and of course wearing lots of pink – tutus, wigs, you name it, we love pink! Whenever I have a Tickled Pink event in our store the conversations that I have with customers about their cancer journey is often very emotional and sad, but hearing people's good news is wonderful, as there really is hope."

Thanks to the generous support of customers and colleagues Asda has raised more than £100 million for charity since Tickled Pink launched in 1996 – and Jo says it's so important that it continues to raise awareness: "Early detection is so important so please to check your chest, pecs and b***s no matter your age, that includes men too! And if you find anything that doesn't feel right, please see your GP."

Community champion Kuia from our Belvedere store has fought breast cancer twice so knows how difficult it can be for people to talk about their own diagnosis and treatment – which is why she's always ready to be a listening ear and a friendly face to chat to.

She's a passionate supporter of our Tickled Pink breast cancer campaign which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. In that time Tickled Pink has raised £100 million to change the outcomes of breast cancer in the UK, working with charity partners Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel!.

Kuia said: "Tickled Pink is amazing and the progress which has been achieved over the past 30 years is remarkable. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer the first time at the age of 28 I was just given a leaflet, and that's it. I didn't know anyone my age who'd had breast cancer and I never knew success stories either. Some people couldn't even say the word cancer, they'd cross the street to avoid me. People even thought it was contagious! Now there's support networks and groups out there and you can contact nurses online. Access to information is a lot easier and there are new remedies and treatments too.

"I'm very open about having had breast cancer. In my job I meet a lot of people who have been diagnosed and are scared. Everybody's journey is different, but it's nice sometimes to see somebody who has got through the other side. I'm very open about what I've been through and I do a lot of awareness stands for Tickled Pink which involve talking to customers and handing out leaflets. Sometimes people just want to talk to someone about their diagnosis and they are in a bit of shock."

18/10/2026

Helping a mum who gave birth in the car park of our Ipswich store inspired our colleague Charmaine to train as a midwife – and after three years at university, including placements at Ipswich Hospital and helping with 40 births – she's now fully qualified.

Charmaine said: "I was just going home and walking across the car park with a colleague when we heard what was going on and went over to help. The dad had just taken the baby and put it on mum. We rang the ambulance and got towels for the baby and waited for the ambulance to come. It was just a beautiful moment."

Charmaine has worked at Asda alongside her studies. She's looking for midwife opportunities, but hasn't ruled continuing in a part-time capacity with Asda. She said: "I sometimes see ladies who I've helped deliver their babies out shopping in Asda and they say to me 'hi, what are you doing here?' Working in the hospital and Asda was such a contrast though. I'd be delivering babies one day and then stacking shelves the next. Everyone at the store is very friendly and they've been very accommodating and supportive of me when I've been studying. It's been really lovely. Customers are really nice too and they know all about my studying."

Robert, the store's produce manager, said: “I’m so proud of Charmaine for balancing her work alongside her midwife course. It’s not easy managing both, and the effort she’s put into it deserves recognition. It’s great to see her working towards something she’s passionate about and I wish her all the best in the future."

Our colleague Tracey is taking the leap for charity

On 2nd October, our wonderful colleague will be taking on a skydive to raise vital funds for the East Anglian Air Ambulance Charity - a charity that saves lives every day

Its something Tracey has always wanted to do, and she couldn't think of a better reason to take the leap
The charity relies heavily on public donations and needs to raise £8.2 million for a new airbase, as its Cambridge base will need to relocate when the airport closes.

Having worked in a trauma unit, Tracey knows just how vital this service is.
"you never know when you, or someone close to you, might need them, and the crews are simply the best."

If you would like to support Tracey and help raise funds for East Anglian Air Ambulance, please follow the fundraising link in the comments below ⬇️

We donated some craft supplies to the Summer Holiday Club at St Peter's Stoke Park
I popped in with some CBeebies Parenting activity packs to see what the children had been up to!

The church space had been transformed into a jungle themed adventure, with animal mask making, sensory play, and den building in the cool and shaded part of the church garden
The children were having a fantastic time and they also went on safari, bug hunting and exploring in our beautiful Bourne Park

Last year our store was able to support St Peter's with a £20,000 grant from the Asda Foundation
The money was used to replace the church windows so it is always a pleasure to visit, and to see how the many activities and services they provide are supporting our local community

We are all incredibly proud to be supporting our amazing colleague Rachel, who has created “50 to 50” – a year-long fundraising journey for Crohn’s & Colitis UK.

Rachel has been part of our Asda Stoke Park family since we opened in 2009 and has dedicated over 25 years of service to Asda.

Rachel's fundraising journey is to honour the memory of her cousin, who sadly passed away from Crohn’s disease.

Starting in September 2025 – on what would have been her cousin’s 50th birthday – and continuing through to November 2026, when Rachel celebrates her own 50th, she has been taking on a variety of incredible fundraising challenges.

Next Big Challenge
In August, Rachel will be taking fundraising to new heights as she takes on a WINGWALK – an amazing and brave challenge!

If you would like to help Rachel raise funds for her cause, please click on the link in the comments below

We donated a raffle prize to Women's Health Hope for their upcoming event, celebrating the launch of The Women's Health Support Hub

Women's Health Hope is an independant and award winning charity dedicated to raising awareness about the complexities of Women's health

We first met Monica and the team a couple of years ago when they held an event at our store The energy they give to their campaign is truly inspiring and we are so pleased that they have received the support they have worked so hard for

Determined to change the way that Women's Health is addressed, and driven by their own lived experiences, they wanted to create a non-clinical safe space, where women could not only talk openly and share experiences with eachother, but they would also feel heard, understood and supported

Invited to appear on Good Morning Britain and most recently a visit to Westminster, supported by MP Jack Abbot. Monica feels that although there is still much to do, women's voices are finally making a difference

The Women's Health Support Hub will open at the Unity Centre and Whitton Centre on Saturday 1st August from 10.30 - 12.30

Please visit the Women's Health Hope website for more information
