Yesterday, Joe and Jack took part in Dalziel’s Battle of the Butchers, going head‑to‑head with eight other teams. They had just two hours to break down a lamb, a side of pork, three chickens and a beef knuckle, then turn them into innovative, themed products where they were assessed on skill, teamwork, their theme and good butchery practices.

Every team produced an impressive range, and while Jack and Joe didn’t place in the top three, they put together a display they should genuinely be proud of. This was Jack’s first competition after only four years in butchery, and the way the two of them worked together — steady, focused and encouraging each other throughout — really stood out.

Jack’s already calling this “just the start”.
Joe, on the other hand, says he’s retiring… though his kids strongly disagree 😂

🥩 Best of luck to Jack and Joe from Q Guild member Lishmans Of Ilkley as they take part in the Dalziel Ltd Butchers Show 2026 this Sunday in Harrogate.

Celebrating 100 years of Dalziel, the event brings together butchers and industry professionals from across the UK for a day of competition, innovation and craftsmanship.

The Q Guild will also be exhibiting at the show and with many Guild members expected to attend, it’s set to be a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the very best of British butchery. If you’re visiting, be sure to pop along to the Q Guild stand and say hello - we’d love to catch up with members, suppliers and friends of the Guild throughout the day.

We’re over the moon to have won at the Great Taste Awards with our British charcuterie! 🏆🇬🇧

Two of our handcrafted products were recognised this year, and we couldn’t be prouder.

Here’s Sean in the shop with the award-winning packs – he slices and packs every one by hand with care and attention to detail 💪

🌶 Our Nduja picked up a 2* award – fiery, rich, and spreadable, this salami is one of our boldest flavours. Judges said:
“We applaud the simple, short list of ingredients” and
“Balanced with herbal notes that add interest – a well-created and enjoyable product.”

🍖 Our Air-Dried York Ham was awarded 1* – a cured ham we love pairing with runny cheese and pickles. Judges described it as:
“Pleasing texture and ultimately a great tasting ham.”
