Hi Folks, RE: THIS WEEK'S LOCAL FARMER'S MARKETS (Henstridge on Thursday & Silton on Friday) Both markets run from 10am to 12.30pm

Everybody's favourite 'Lanky Farmer' (Alec Davis) from Goat Hill Farm will be at both markets. There's always a tussle to get to him first before he sells out of his magnificent Wild Boar X Tamworth pork sausages, chops and joints as well as his positively gourmet venison chops, burgers, choice cuts and joints. He also has a great range of cheese including the unpasteurised Montgomery (at a fraction of standard prices...and that's if you can find it anywhere else), Wookey Hole Cheddar , Stilton (if he still has some....maybe the first half a dozen customers then you've missed it) as well as a good few others. Oh...Local butter too!

It's truly great to have Virginia and Duncan back with us on (only Thursdays at Henstridge) selling their range of great household items at exceptionally good prices. HEADS UP..Take the time to peruse their stall as there's always something there that you have been looking for and will make you grin impishly as you bundle it proudly into your bag or car.

Janet's Home Made Bakes stall on the other hand, is one that invokes feelings of inner guilt and postponed diet plans as it's next to impossible to sidestep her almond slices, bakewells, as well as a mountain of great cakes and other tasty bakes worthy of walking into the market wearing a climbing harness! I keep overhearing folk saying..."Oh are your pasties all gone again?" Jams, Marmalades and Chutnies are also her speciality. You'll see.

Jan's stall is always a miriad of terrific cards and gift ideas as well as THE BREAD BASE. When I say bread, I don't just mean the good stuff from Taylor's Bakery for hosting Alec's cheese and a spoonful of Janet's Chutney, but also diet crippling lardy cakes which are constantly scale tipping between dietary fiendishness and somehow good for the soul comfort food along with the other tasty bakes.

Onto the other side of the hall. Not East, West, or North but the SUE side. Hmmm Don't say that last line out loud...it sounds like a dangerous place to be. Well it is for wallets but otherwise perfectly safe to peruse.

Sue Adams has a great selection of Neal's Yard Bargains and is always great for a chat over coffee. Just don't ask her what her cat's been up to lately. (I'm sure 'Purdy' just loves to give her the runaround!) Also don't mention 'Safe' whilst chatting to Sue about Henstridge Hall, as she picked up the our fond nickname for her of 'Slamdunk' at Henstridge hall. If you ask her.. I'm pretty sure it's going to cost you at least 3 coffees - you have been warned!

Susan Wilson (ferry willing - and I don't mean because of any dribbling skies with Noah implications but when asked if she would be at this weeks market, her reply was simply "ferries willing") will be at the markets selling Natural Dog Treats. "These are good" is coming straight from various pet owners who assure me that it was their pets who ate them and not a personal taste for them. (Yep ok..I believe them...like we all didn't try nibbling on Winnalot as kids - I certainly did but preferred Milky Ways!)

I will be there of course, with the Pendragonwood Fresh Fruit & Veg stall with some bargain 'last of the season raspberries' at 3 punnets for a fiver for the jam makers out there. Also have some lovely plums this week and some teeny tiny very sweet satsumas. Some Beautiful cauliflowers and great Hispis. Overall a great range of everything you need on the fruit & veg front except strawberries (not great at the moment so I didn't buy any and clean forgot to pick up grapes. My bad! ) Go plum this week and enjoy the change!

SILTON
Friday is Fish Day at Silton Market. Vicky has a good range of fish and word on the street is that she has crabs! (Shhhhh)

Nicole will be at Silton market on Friday with her Local Honey products and great range of Apiary Alchemist products.

Gaynor will be at Silton market this Friday with her very welcome llama socks for this time of year and other beautiful wares.

WAR & PEACE OVER AND OUT.

Nikki
