Transport Weekend picnics aka Bus-Based Bargains. But equally good eaten in your own garden or at the park or anywhere else of your choosing.
£1 each or 20 for £15 is still very much a thing, with boxes available if you're spending £10 or more, but for this weekend only I've added some picnic variations.
# Two scones of your choice, fruit or cheese, in a carrier bag, with spread, jam, knives, serviettes - £3.00
# Two scones of your choice, fruit or cheese, in a carrier bag with spread, jam, knives, serviettes and clotted cream - £4.50
# Two scones of your choice, fruit or cheese, in a carrier bag with spread, jam, clotted cream, knives, serviettes, plus two pieces of cake - £6.00
And if that last one isn't an extraordinary bargain, then I don't know what is!
The "spread" is Flora. I love real butter, but the cash and carry didn't have any butter portions when I went and they still don't, so this was the best I could do. On the other hand this means that a fruit scone picnic bag is vegan, because I don't use any dairy in those scones, and never have.
As long as I don't oversleep - or sleep at all - there will be five different types of cheese scone. Yes, that's right, FIVE. One picnic bag may not be enough. Top tip: buy several.
Right, back to the kitchen, where the shortbread is nearly ready to come out of the oven and be replaced by brownies. Looking at the forecast I think it's going to be cardigan weather, which also means that rocky road makes the list for another week. Two kinds. Because who doesn't want a bus ride to a pretty Kent village with a cream tea and a piece of rocky road.
Likes and shares and comments would be much appreciated, because otherwise it seems to be just me, my dog and the algorithm seeing my posts lately.
See you tomorrow at Faversham Market and Faversham Festival of Transport outside Barley Mow Gifts And Interiors on the way to the vintage bus stops. I am slightly alarmed that I travelled to school on what now counts as a vintage bus.
