An Important Announcement from Leuchars Butchers ❤️
After a lot of thought, many conversations, a heavy heart and some difficult decisions, we have decided that the time has come to close the doors of Leuchars Butchers. With tomorrow, Friday the 23rd of October being our last day, with limited stock.
We took over the business in 2021, and what a five years it has been!
Over that time, we’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many lovely people, getting to know our regular customers and becoming part of the Leuchars community. It’s been so much more than just a shop to us.
It’s also been a huge part of our family life. Our children have grown up with the butcher’s shop being part of their everyday lives. They’ve seen the hard work, the long hours and the commitment that goes into running a small business. They’ve also made sacrifices along the way, particularly at Christmas, when some of the busiest days in the shop have meant less time together as a family.
As much as we’ve loved the business, those are years and moments we can’t get back, and as our children grow up, we’ve come to realise just how precious that time is.
The reality is that times are changing. Shopping habits are different, convenience often wins over quality, and keeping a small independent business going is becoming increasingly challenging. It’s sad to see traditional shops disappearing from our villages and high streets, but unfortunately, that’s the reality many small businesses are facing. Recent staff issues have not helped either.
The business is now up for sale, and we’d love for it to continue as a butcher’s shop and service to the community. And we’d be as much help as we can to anyone taking over.
This hasn’t been an easy decision, but we know it’s the right one for our family. Closing the shop will allow us to concentrate on our other business and, hopefully, find a little more balance between work and family life.
We want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported us over the past five years. To our loyal regulars, those who have supported us at Christmas, and everyone who has popped in for something or simply stopped for a chat — we really do appreciate every single one of you.
We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve put into Leuchars Butchers, and although it’s sad to be closing this chapter, we’re looking forward to what comes next.
