There won’t be much trick or treating this year I shouldn’t imagine. But here’s some tips for a plastic and waste free free Halloween, just in case!
*make a costume rather than buying new...swap old costumes with friends....or buy second hand
*use face paints rather than plastic masks
*use pumpkin innards to make soup or cassoulet and compost the outer shell once it’s finished with. This is a lovely recipe - https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbcgoodfoodme.com/recipes/pumpkin-parsnip-cassoulet/%3famp
*decorate a canvas produce bag or old plastic bag for kids to use, rather than buying a new plastic bucket.
*buy sweets that aren’t individually wrapped in plastic, or as an alternative treat make a batch of small biscuits or cookies for kids to decorate and be handed out (or left out, if you’re avoiding opening the door!)
And lastly this article has some good tips / info about the huge amount of waste produced over Halloween in the U.K. for further reading! https://pebblemag.com/news/how-to-have-a-plastic-free-halloween
