Welcome to Gamrie Gardens CIC - community allotments, volunteer-led market garden, and honesty shop (open May–Sept), growing beyond organic near Gardenstown, Aberdeenshire, focused on sustainable food and land stewardship. Located in Banff, near Gamrie, the goal of the project is to create a vibrant community space where people can come together to learn, share, and engage with nature. Our vision is to create a magical and inviting space that respects and celebrates the environment. We are looking for participants, volunteers, and donors to help make our dream a reality. As part of the project, we are building a community garden, hosting workshops, markets and festivals, growing our own food and medicine, and creating a farm shop. We are also looking to set up guest cabins, graze local animals, plant a woodland to increase local wildlife habitat, and introduce 2-3 no-touch bee hives. In the future, we hope to open the space for gatherings, yoga, meditation, and workshops. If you’re looking to make a difference and help create a vibrant community space, please join us in our mission to make Gamrie Gardens a reality.

We've made it through to the public voting round of the Just Transition Participatory Budgeting Fund, where projects receive funding based on public votes. We're asking for your help!

As a small, rural project, we're up against a bit of a challenge getting the votes we need. But we're going to give it our best shot!

If we get enough votes, we'll secure £2,831.20 for the tools and plants our volunteers need to beautifully landscape our new parking area with perennial native plants. We'll also be able to buy garden tools and equipment that will benefit Gamrie Gardens visitors and volunteers for years to come.

As some of you know, we were recently awarded the majority of the funding for our parking project through The National Lottery Community Fund. Now we're asking for the remaining funds through the JTPBF to help bring it all together.

Here's how you can help:

- Vote for Gamrie Gardens CIC as one of your five favourite projects.
- Share this post far and wide.
- Help everyone in your household cast their vote, too. Even better, help friends, neighbours and colleagues vote as well!
- Spread the word to anyone who might support us.

We heard that the lowest number of votes needed to get a project funded last year was just over 1,200. That's a big ask for a little community project like ours, but every single vote helps!

Important: You must use a Grampian postcode when voting, or your vote won't count.

Voting opens at midday today and closes at 5pm on Monday 9 November.

Thank you so much for helping us give Gamrie Gardens CIC the best possible chance!

Please comment below or get in touch if you need any help with voting. And please share!

Is there anyone who'd be able to lend a hand in getting the word out and helping collect votes for the JTPBF? Specifically we could really some "boots on the ground" - folks willing to have the voting link readily available on their phones to help people vote on the spot. Even better if you can pass that phone around to your colleagues or at the pub, class, party etc. and gather a bulk votes all at once! But honestly, anything helps. Voting opens tomorrow for 1 week and we need every vote we can get! If the least you can do is SHARE, COMMENT AND REACT to any of our campaigning posts you see throughout the week - we're so grateful.

THE GOOD NEWS KEEPS ON COMING...

We've successfully made it through to the voting round of the Just Transition Participatory Budgeting Fund!

We've asked for funding to buy hand tools, native perennial shrubs and hedging plants, and flower bulbs so our volunteers can landscape our new parking area and entrance to benefit people, wildlife and the environment.

We've also teamed up with a few other projects we've built relationships with and would love to see funded, too. We've tagged five projects we'd happily recommend, as JTPBF voting rules require you to vote for five groups.

📅 Public voting opens at 12 noon on Monday 26 October and closes at 5pm on Monday 9 November. VOTES BEFORE OR AFTER WILL NOT BE COUNTED.

We need over 1,200 votes to stand a chance. As a small, rural project, that number is more than a little daunting, but we're going to give it our best shot! Our little community has overcome much bigger hurdles since we started in August 2022.

Here's how you can help:
✅ Vote for Gamrie Gardens CIC and four other projects.
🏡 Help everyone in your household vote, and ask your friends and colleagues, too.
📣 SHARE this post to your feed and relevant groups.
👍 Like and comment to help more people see it.
💪 Fancy doing a little campaigning for us? We'd love your help, in whatever way works for you! You could even open the voting page on your phone and help people you meet cast their votes.

Important: Voters must use a Grampian postcode for their vote to count.

Every vote, share and bit of word-of-mouth makes a difference. Thank you for helping us give it our best shot!

🗳️ Vote here from Monday at midday: https://www.jtpbfund.scot/

We’re delighted to announce that we've been awarded £15,860 from The National Lottery Community Fund to create a dedicated parking area and improve access to the gardens. This has been YEARS in the making, far before even writing the funding application we had to get planning permission which took almost 2 years. This is HUGE for us, and we are beyond grateful - to National Lottery for their support and to our allotment holders, volunteers and all the folks who have helped along the way.

This will open so many opportunities for our project and what we do for the community. We'll be able to offer more allotment space, start hosting workshops, and inviting schools and folks of all abilities to come and get involved! Can't believe it's finally happening, so excited for this next chapter.

SO happy to share that our parking and access is being supported by National Lottery Community Fund. We can't believe it's finally happening after 2 years of hard work to get to this point. Once it's fully completed, we'll be able to open more allotments and start hosting workshops - as soon as spring 2027! We're over the moon - thank you everyone who's part of this success story!

Hugest shout out to the French family that Wwoofed with us for 3 weeks this month. They helped IMMENSELY and we wouldn’t be ending the season as strongly without them. Lucas, Julie, Elise & Anthony were absolute stars, willing to help out anywhere, and with everything. They have left their marks in the best way possible on at Gamrie Gardens and are very missed by all!
