I spent this morning reading a new article from one of our Gold Sponsors AHDB () on the trends in red meat consumption in restaurants in the UK. It’s a fascinating read and tells a lot on the hospitality industry and the public’s opinion on red meat, which could be an indicator for us butchers 🥩

It’s a reminder of the brilliant work that AHDB do to support Farmers, Butchers, and Hospitality in the UK. With their insights and research offering us clear indicators of what trends are doing, and what the future might hold. 📈

UK Lions Social 🦁

After the weather unfortunately cancelled our original social plans, we ended up indoors, cooking what BBQ we could, and enjoying a Mystery Box competition set up by & 👀

It was great getting the team together for the first time, with everyone bringing different food for the BBQ, and jumping up to compete, most for the first time! 🙌

Big thanks to everyone involved in organising, and running the event. Massive thank you to our sponsors and for helping with the Mystery Box, and a thank you also goes to for supplying the fuel we cooked with 🔥

We even handed out a few awards for the mystery box which were exceptionally made by 🤩

Our boys have been EATING up the competition scene 🦁🇬🇧😏

& have recently competed in both European Butcher Wars () and World Butcher Wars ().

European Butcher Wars took place in Germany in April, and brought together some of Europes finest to compete, with 20 competitors representing 7 countries 🇪🇺
Ben placed 2nd and Connor placed 3rd ⭐️

World Butcher Wars took place in Sydney in May and brought 30 of the worlds best together for an epic event 🔥
11 countries were represented with an incredibly high standard of displays across the board 🤩
Ben placed 2nd and Connor placed 7th 💥

We are proud to be represented at events across the world, and at such standard, too! 🦁

🎓The Next Generation🎓

Yesterday, UK Lion had the pleasure of delivering a beef butchery and vale added masterclass to the Level 3 butchery apprentices at Team GB’s home ground 🔪

With a focus on handling, rail breaking and retail friendly products, the students went on to create a vast array of products that will no doubt start to grace the cabinets of their work places 💫

Supporting and inspiring the next generation of butchers and butchery apprentices is a core tenant of Team GB and being given these kinds of opportunities will forever be valued as we aim to positively impact our national meat sector 🇬🇧

talented butchers were chosen for their exceptional skill, consistency, and drive - and mark the start of an ambitious programme of training, competition and public engagement in the run-up to 2028.
The squad will compete nationally and internationally, engage the public through live demonstrations and events, and produce content to showcase butchery and the team’s journey to Australia 2028.
