ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ዐቢይ አሕመድ (ዶ/ር) በአፍሪካ ሕብረት የሰው ሰራሽ አስተውሎት (Artificial Intelligence) እና የዲጂታል ጤና ዘርፍ መሪ (Champion) ሆነው ተሾሙ። ሹመቱ የተሰጠው ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ዐቢይ አሕመድ በዘርፉ ላሳዩት አመራር እና ኢትዮጵያ በአህጉሩ የሰው ሰራሽ አስተውሎትንና የፈጠራ ሥራዎችን ለማስፋፋት እየተገበረች የምትገኘውን የላቀ ሚና እውቅና ለመስጠት ነው።
በተላከው የሹመት ደብዳቤ ላይ የሚከተለው ሰፍሯል፦ “የተከበሩ የእርስዎ ዲጂታል ትራንስፎርሜሽን እና አዳዲስ ቴክኖሎጂዎችን ለማስፋፋት ያደረጉት አመራር፣ ሰው ሰራሽ አስተውሎት (AI) ለአፍሪካ ሉዓላዊነት፣ ለውጤታማነት እና ለአሳታፊ እድገት ቁልፍ መሣሪያ ሆኖ እንዲያገለግል በማስቻል ረገድ ትልቅ እገዛ አድርጓል። ስልታዊ በሆነ መልኩ የቴክኖሎጂ ነጻነትን እና ዐቅምን ለመገንባት የሚያደርጉት ተከታታይ ቅስቀሳ፣ አህጉሩ በኃላፊነት እና በፍትሐዊነት በታጀበ የሰው ሰራሽ አስተውሎት አጠቃቀም ረገድ በዓለም አቀፍ ደረጃ ግንባር ቀደም እንዲሆን ከፍተኛ አስተዋፅኦ ይኖረዋል።”
ባለፉት ጥቂት ዓመታት በጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ዐቢይ አሕመድ አመራር፣ ኢትዮጵያ በዲጂታላይዜሽን እና በሰው ሰራሽ አስተውሎት ዘርፎች ያስመዘገበችው እድገት ከፍተኛ አፈጻጸም ያሳየ ነው። የዲጂታል መሰረተ ልማትን ማስፋፋት፣ የኢ-መንግሥት (e-government) አገልግሎቶችን ሥራ ላይ ማዋል፣ በፈጠራ ሥነ-ምህዳር ላይ መዋዕለ ንዋይ ማፍሰስ፣ የሰው ሰራሽ አስተውሎት ኢንስቲትዩትን ማቋቋም እንዲሁም ሀገራዊ የሰው ሰራሽ አስተውሎት ስትራቴጂ መንደፍ ለለውጡ ጠንካራ መሰረት የጣሉ ተግባራት ናቸው። በተጨማሪም ራሱን የቻለ የሰው ሰራሽ አስተውሎት ዩኒቨርሲቲ ለማቋቋም የታቀደው ዕቅድ፤ ምርምርን፣ የክህሎት ልማትን እና አህጉራዊ ትብብርን ይበልጥ እንደሚያጠናክር ይጠበቃል።
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has been appointed as the African Union Champion for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Health. The announcement recognises his leadership and Ethiopia’s growing role in advancing artificial intelligence and innovation across the continent.
The appointment letter noted: “Your Excellency’s leadership in promoting digital transformation and emerging technologies has helped position artificial intelligence as a key tool for sovereignty, efficiency, and inclusive growth in Africa. Your continued advocacy for strategic autonomy and technological empowerment will be instrumental in positioning the continent as a global leader in responsible and equitable AI adoption.”
Ethiopia’s progress in digitization and artificial intelligence launched and accelerated significantly under the Prime Minister’s active engagement over the last few years. Initiatives such as the expansion of digital infrastructure, the rollout of e-government services, investments in innovation ecosystems, and the establishment of an AI institute and development of a national AI strategy have laid a strong foundation for transformation. In addition, plans to establish a dedicated AI university are expected to strengthen research, talent development, and continental collaboration in emerging technologies.
