Did you know that in Taiwan, pomelos aren’t just a delicious autumn fruit—they are a whole vibe? 🇹🇼✨
Here are 3 fun facts about the mighty Taiwanese Wendan [ 文旦 ]
1️⃣ They wear hats (literally): During the Mid-Autumn Festival, it’s a huge tradition for kids (and very patient pets) to wear the peeled pomelo skins as hats! It’s believed to bring good luck and protection.
2️⃣ Sweeter with age: Unlike most fruits, pomelos actually taste better after the skin wrinkles and turns a bit yellow. This process is called "shāqīng" (killing the green), which concentrates the sugars and makes the inside incredibly juicy!
3️⃣ A literal lucky charm: The Chinese word for pomelo (柚 - yòu) sounds exactly like the word for "protection" (佑) and "have" (有). Eating them is a delicious way to fast-track good fortune into your life.
