☕️ Saturday Story Time with Liam (Age 5)

As many of you know, Liam is in charge of picking the newest sticker designs that make it into the store.

One of his latest creations, "Snitches Get Stitches," was inspired by a real-life event at school.

Apparently there was a classmate who had made it their personal mission to report every little thing Liam did. After finally reaching the end of his patience, Liam looked at the kid and confidently announced:

"Snitches get stitches."

For the record, Liam is 5 years old, has never been in a fight, and still needs help opening a yogurt tube.

Needless to say, we had a conversation about choosing better words... but I can't deny the sticker idea was pretty memorable. 😂

Anyways, Liam has dropped some new sticker designs, and they're now available!

Ten years ago, if someone had told us we'd be featured in the newspaper for winning a national award, we'd have assumed they had the wrong people.

Yet here we are.

We're honoured to be featured on Page 26 of the June edition of the South Shuswap Scoop following our Outstanding Independent Award win from Convenience Store News Canada & Octane.

Looking back, it's amazing to see how far we've come—from taking a chance on a little store in Eagle Bay to building a business, raising our family, and becoming part of a community we're proud to call home.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way. Whether you've stopped in for an energy drink, propane fill, storage, groceries, liquor, lottery tickets, or simply shared one of our posts, you've helped make this journey possible.

And yes, our kids are pretty convinced this means we're famous now. 😆

🚗 PARKING LOT UPDATE: The Parking Lot Has Entered Its Organized Era

If you've stopped by recently, you may have noticed some fresh paint and a few changes around Eagle Bay Mercantile.

After extensive research (translation: Dave staring at the parking lot for months and convincing himself he could fit more vehicles in it), we've added three parking lanes designed to improve traffic flow, increase safety, and squeeze a few more vehicles into the lot without requiring a game of parking-lot Tetris.

As it turns out, this parking lot redesign was basically Dave's latest passion project. Some people build birdhouses. Some restore old cars. Dave measures parking lots and dreams about traffic flow. 😂

If everyone parks within the lines, there should be plenty of room to get in and out comfortably, and we'll all spend less time wondering, "How exactly did they get their truck in there?"

We've also switched the area beside the loading dock to one-way traffic.

If you're filling water jugs, simply continue toward the storage facility, follow the signs, and exit via Turgeon Road, which loops back to Eagle Bay Road. Think of it as the scenic route. It's approximately 17 seconds longer and significantly less likely to result in an awkward game of "Who's backing up first?"

Got a boat? RV? Trailer? Massive truck? Or are you towing something that requires its own postal code? We've got plenty of parking behind the store. The rear lot is easily accessible from Turgeon Road and offers lots of room to maneuver.

Our goal is simple:
✅ More parking
✅ Better traffic flow
✅ Safer pedestrian access
✅ Less creative interpretation of what constitutes a parking spot

Thanks for helping us keep things moving smoothly this summer. The yellow lines aren't there to ruin anyone's fun—they're just Dave's way of achieving peak parking efficiency. 😜

P.S. If you see Dave standing in the parking lot staring thoughtfully into the distance, don't worry. He's probably already planning Phase 2. 🚗📏😂
