Today is day 100 of Corn Season! This year we have been celebrating 100 years of Silver Rill / Fox Family farming. For the past 99 days, we have been giving away Corn to 1 lucky person. And for the past 99 years, our family has contributed to feeding our province. We’re honored to have made it this far and see multiple farms in the family carrying on! Our Corn Maze this year is 100 year themed and has challenges deep in the maze to find past generations of Silver Rill farmers!

Yes we are still picking fresh corn daily! The late season corn is a tad smaller and has less color than the main season corn, but we assure you that its perfect ripeness, tastes amazing, sweet, and tender! We’re picking as much as possible over the weekend and until there’s no cob left standing! The final day is yet to be determined!

We expect a very busy weekend for the Corn Maze and Pumpkins! Weather is looking great and the Maze is still in excellent condition! Come join us for some fun on the farm, and choose the perfect pumpkins for your home. Note: All pumpkins on the property are available for purchase, grass field area, any displays, any bins, in the market, and in the maze staging area! We have thousands to choose from, of all shapes, sizes, and colors!

Also this weekend on Saturday. We are hosting an event in collaboration with Island Savings. Island Savings has been a crucial and very helpful part to the success of our Farm! We are roasting corn, have live music, basket giveaways, and there are multiple ways to donate to some really good local causes, including half the proceeds of maze tickets!

Thank you everyone for your continued support, it keeps us going very strong!

See you at the Farm!

This Friday, September 25, we’re honoured to be donating 10,000 cobs of our corn to the W̱SÁNEĆ communities.

W̱JOȽEȽP (Tsartlip) has generously offered to host, with all four W̱SÁNEĆ Nations taking part: W̱JOȽEȽP, W̱SÍḰEM, BOḰEĆEN, and SȾÁUTW̱.

The distribution will take place at the lower soccer field from 9:30AM - Sunset, with volunteers helping to make it easy for everyone through a drive-through setup.

If you are a member of one of these communities, please stop by and grab some corn to eat, freeze for later, or share with your neighbours, family and Elders.

This year marks 100 years since our family began farming on the Saanich Peninsula. For a century, our family has been farming, growing and harvesting on W̱SÁNEĆ territory, and as we celebrate this milestone, we wanted to recognize the community and the land that have been such an important part of our family’s history.

Silver Rill and the Fox family have always had deep connections with the W̱SÁNEĆ community, going back throughout this century and to generations before us. We’re proud of those connections, and we intend to keep that bond strong for generations to come.

We’re happy to share part of our harvest with the W̱SÁNEĆ communities, and we hope everyone enjoys the corn. We’d love for this to become a meaningful tradition that we can continue in the years ahead.

Today we post about Farmers working together on the Peninsula! The past few years we have been rotating crop land with our friends at fieldfivefarm This is beneficial for both crops and keeps our local farm land healthy and thriving. Supporting our local breweries supports this Grain farm, and supporting our Market keeps us all going strong together!

Watching Golden Grains grow beside Golden Corn, is a beautiful sight to see in the fields! We wanted to share a few photos of it!

Keep up the good work Saanichton! Corn Season is far from over, we are picking amazing fresh corn in thousands every morning!
