East Ridge Farms A micro farm growing gourmet garlic, vegetables & flowers. Selling direct to the public 7 days/week. Everything grown 100% naturally, NO chemicals/sprays.

At East Ridge Farms, We specialize in growing gourmet, naturally grown, Red Russian garlic as well as naturally grown Vegetables and Flowers. We want you to know that EVERYTHING we grow at East Ridge Farms is pesticide, herbicide, fungicide and chemical/synthetic fertilizer FREE. We also work hard to grow only non GMO! We believe that there should be a return to the way humans used to grow food... hands on, naturally and on a small scale! Our Garlic, Vegetables, Flowers are available for sale direct from our farm stand, seasonally, from June until December. We also welcome inquiries from local restaurants, caterers, grocery/specialty food stores, florists, and anyone else who is interested in purchasing any of our products and supporting their LOCAL farmer.

Didn’t get finished stocking the stand for your edition of until dark! I crafted up some braids if you’re looking for a unique gift for your dinner host. I also wrapped some deluxe sunflower bouquets and crafted some sunflower jars. Exciting news, the sugar pie pumpkins are in the stand if you’re looking to make a pie from scratch and I’ve stocked some Red Russian garlic grab bags and fresh sage for your turkey dinner. Also in the stand:

Here’s how the stand looks for .

The season is definitely winding down, but we’ve still got lots of veggies… and sunflowers! Cut these beauties today and more are on the way in time for Thanksgiving weekend! Lots of zinnias too and if the sun sticks around, might even have some snap dragons!

FYI cucumbers are pretty much done for the season, beans and cabbage are winding down too. But, winter squash are in season!!

Tidy little carving harvest this year! There’s some really perfect and then not so perfect pumpkins to choose from. FYI these ones are also good for pies/soups/etc. In the farmstand now! 🎃

For those of you waiting on sugar pie pumpkins, they are almost ready! Need a little bit more time to ripen. Hopefully will have some in the farmstand by the end of the week for your Thanksgiving pies!

Sorry for the delay posting… it took way longer on Friday to set up the pumpkin display than I thought it would (had to repair some holes in the little roof), so didn’t have time to harvest more than some sunflowers by the time I was finished. After teaching 2 classes Saturday am, spent Saturday afternoon harvesting. Some more new arrivals to the stand this week… beautiful parsnips, kabocha and butternut squash to name a few. Also in the stand:

Carrots & franken-carrots lol
Sweet corn (very limited quantities)
Cabbage (almost sold out)
Beets (red, pink, gold, long)
Parsley
Kale
Zucchini
Pattypan squash
Cucumbers (almost finished for the season)
Rutabaga
Scallions
Acorn squash (green, festival, mashed potato)
Sunflower bouquets

I’ll be cutting more zinnias Sunday, also picking beans, making some fresh sage bundles and… harvesting the carving pumpkins!!! They’ll be in the stand by the afternoon.

Here’s how the stand looks for a lol, it was too rainy to restock yesterday!

Yes that is sweet corn… grown on our farm, chemical free!!! Very limited quantities. The sunflowers and zinnias are still blooming like crazy, I’ve added some kabocha to the stand and carrots are restocked, again, limited quantities of carrots.

What a wet day yesterday! Definitely needed. Despite all the rain the soil is still dry underneath the top few inches. Just a gentle reminder that fall is here and time to order that load of mushroom compost I need for the garlic before the ground gets too wet!

I’ll be finishing my harvest today, did some harvesting yesterday but it was pretty gross out. Look what has arrived though… winter squash!!! We’ve got festival acorn, green acorn and mashed potatoes acorn squash in the stand now. Time to make some soup. The rest of the winter squash is coming soon! Also in the stand this week:

Beans
Cabbage (limited amount of red)
Scallions
Kale
Spaghetti squash
Beets (pink, gold, red, long - fyi for the pink and gold I’ll be transitioning from bunches to just loose beets as the tops are starting to look a bit ugly with the change in weather)
Zucchini

We got the perfect sunny day for our market on Saturday!!! Wish I had have had time to get some video footage at the beginning of the market, oh well.
